Appearance
Yuki is a slender, silver-gray tabaxi with dark charcoal paws, a long ringed tail, and bright amber eyes. She wears a well-fitted black leather coat over travel-stained gray clothing, with careful repairs sewn in pale blue thread. Her boots are practical but polished, and the small brass clasp at her throat is conspicuously over-cared-for. She smells faintly of cedar oil, rain-damp cloth, and cinnamon, a combination she insists is entirely intentional. Her movements are quiet and economical, except when her tail gives away her mood by curling, lashing, or tapping against the floor.
Mannerisms
Yuki tilts her head and slowly blinks when deciding whether someone is lying. She cleans her brass lantern clasp whenever she is anxious, and her tail coils around her ankle when she is trying to appear harmless. Before entering a dangerous room, she quietly counts the exits under her breath.
Personality
Yuki is observant, quick-witted, and playfully irreverent. She treats conversation like a card game, revealing just enough truth to keep others guessing. Beneath her teasing confidence is a fierce protectiveness toward outsiders, fugitives, and anyone being used by people with more power. She enjoys beautiful locks, unusual stories, expensive desserts, and the moment a plan surprises someone who thought they had accounted for everything.
Ideals
Freedom belongs to everyone, not only to those wealthy enough to purchase it. Secrets should be weapons against oppression, never chains around the innocent.
Bonds
Yuki is determined to protect the street children and informants who helped her survive the criminal underworld. She also feels indebted to the Lady of Last Lanterns, though she suspects her patron's promises always conceal a second meaning.
Flaws
Yuki cannot resist opening something that is locked, sealed, forbidden, or described as impossible to access. She also assumes that every generous offer has a hidden price, including those made by her allies.
Quirks
Background
Yuki grew up among the crowded rooftops, night markets, and lantern-lit alleys of a great trade city. Her natural agility made her an exceptional burglar, while her curiosity drew her toward locked rooms and forbidden collections rather than simple theft. She became part of a small criminal crew that specialized in stealing secrets, especially ledgers, blackmail letters, and magical curiosities. During a job involving an antique silver music box, Yuki discovered that the box was a prison for a powerful archfey known as the Lady of Last Lanterns. Instead of selling the artifact, Yuki opened it, and the released fey offered a pact in exchange for one promise: never allow a cruel person to possess a secret that could destroy an innocent life. Yuki accepted, believing the promise would be easy to keep. It was not. Her former crew betrayed her after she refused to deliver the names of children being exploited by a corrupt magistrate. The Lady of Last Lanterns saved Yuki from the resulting ambush, but the pact left her marked by strange dreams, whispered invitations, and magic that blooms like moonlight through stained glass. Now Yuki works as a thief, spy, and occasional rescuer, stealing from the powerful and redirecting their hidden wealth toward people who have no other protection. She still uses her criminal contacts, but she has become notorious for leaving behind a single cinnamon stick as both signature and warning.
