Appearance
Sheshayo is a tall, broad-shouldered warforged built from dark ironwood, brass fittings, and pale ceramic plates. His face is a smooth mask with a narrow horizontal grille, behind which two soft blue lenses glow steadily. A strip of faded red campaign cloth is tied around his left wrist, its edges polished nearly smooth by years of handling. He wears well-maintained chain mail over his plated body, a round shield marked with a simple open hand, and carries himself with the rigid posture of a soldier who is always awaiting an order. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice that his eyes track exits, windows, and the hands of everyone in the room before settling on the speaker.
Mannerisms
He turns his head in precise increments when listening, as though aligning internal instruments. Before entering any room, he quietly counts the exits. When anxious, he rubs the worn section of red banner cloth around his left wrist and recites the names of fallen soldiers under his breath.
Personality
Sheshayo is calm, observant, and unfailingly courteous, with the formal habits of a career soldier and the earnest curiosity of someone still learning how to be a person. He asks direct questions, remembers small details about strangers, and takes promises literally. Though he rarely laughs, he enjoys dry jokes and has begun experimenting with humor by repeating overheard expressions in inappropriate situations.
Ideals
Protection. A command has value only when it preserves the lives placed under it. The strong should stand between danger and those who cannot withstand it.
Bonds
The surviving soldiers of his abandoned unit are his family. He will risk almost anything to find them, especially those still carrying the company’s old insignia.
Flaws
He confuses hesitation with cowardice, especially in himself. Once he has identified a threat, he can become dangerously certain that immediate action is morally superior to patience or negotiation.
Quirks
Background
Sheshayo was assembled beneath the vaulted foundries of a border fortress, one of dozens of warforged made for a conflict he did not understand. His first memories are practical ones: the measured rhythm of marching feet, the smell of lamp oil, and a sergeant correcting the angle of his shield. He became a line soldier, then a standard-bearer, valued not for ferocity but for the way he could hold a broken formation together while arrows fell around him. During the war, he discovered that the officers who shouted about victory rarely stood close enough to see who was trampled beneath it. When the fortress was abandoned, Sheshayo was left behind with the wounded and a torn strip of the company banner tied around his wrist. He carried survivors through three nights of rain and delivered them to a village that had been written off as strategically irrelevant. There, an elderly shrine keeper taught him that duty was not obedience, and that strength was meant to shelter lives rather than preserve orders. Sheshayo took up the shield of that shrine, swore himself to the protection of ordinary people, and began learning the strange, patient language of divine conviction. He now travels as a paladin in training, seeking the commanders who abandoned his unit and trying to determine whether justice requires their punishment, their repentance, or both.
