Appearance
Ravik is a broad-shouldered tiefling standing just over six feet tall, with deep umber-red skin, swept-back black horns, a long tail, and steady golden eyes. His dark hair is cut short around the horns, and his military bearing makes him seem even taller. He habitually checks the brass clasp of his worn red cloak whenever he is thinking, often without realizing it. His lower canines are slightly prominent, showing whenever he eats, grins, or speaks through clenched determination.
Mannerisms
Ravik checks the brass clasp at his throat whenever he is forced to make a difficult decision. He counts quietly under his breath before entering danger, and he eats with deliberate, almost ceremonial bites, exposing his sharp lower canines when he smiles.
Personality
Ravik is controlled, observant, and bluntly practical. He listens more than he speaks, remembers small details about people, and prefers clear agreements to promises based on trust. Beneath his disciplined exterior is a dry sense of humor and a strong instinct to protect anyone being treated as expendable.
Ideals
Power should be judged by what it protects, not by where it comes from. Ravik trusts deliberate choices over prophecy, bloodline, or reputation.
Bonds
He carries his old unit's brass field clasp and refuses to abandon the names of the soldiers who died under his command.
Flaws
Ravik treats hesitation as a personal failure and can become needlessly harsh when others are afraid. He is suspicious of anyone who speaks grandly about destiny, especially when they expect ordinary people to pay for it.
Quirks
Background
Ravik was born in a frontier garrison where his infernal features made him an object of suspicion before he was old enough to understand why. The soldiers there valued usefulness over ancestry, so he learned the spear, the bow, and the rigid habits of military life. He discovered his sorcery during a night attack, when fear and anger filled the barracks with heatless red light and sent an enemy officer sprawling without Ravik ever touching him. The event saved lives, but it also convinced his commanders that his power was dangerous if left undisciplined. He served for several years as a scout and shock soldier, relying on practical training while quietly studying the strange magic in his blood. Ravik eventually left the army after refusing an order that would have sacrificed civilians to secure a tactical victory. He now travels as a spellcaster and sellsword, taking work that has a clear purpose and an agreed price. He does not seek redemption or damnation. He wants only to determine whether power is defined by its source, its wielder, or the choices made when both are tested.
