Appearance
Lloyd Plunket is a broad-shouldered human with a scholar's ink stains on his fingers, a neatly trimmed beard, and the practiced posture of a stage performer who never quite stops measuring the room. He wears a weathered chain shirt beneath a dark robe trimmed with silver thread, and keeps a longsword at his hip like it is both a dueling blade and a prop. His eyes are alert and curious, always flicking from a rune on a wall to the exits in a tavern, as if he expects the world to break into applause or violence at any moment.
Mannerisms
He speaks like a lecturer delivering a dramatic finale, punctuating important points with a tap of two fingers against his temple. When thinking, he polishes the edge of his sword pommel with his thumb, as though preparing both weapon and thought at the same time. Before entering a room, he pauses at the threshold and gives it a quick, appraising bow, half courtesy and half performance.
Personality
Measured, theatrical, and fiercely curious, Lloyd is the sort of man who can recite a battlefield chronicle while ducking under a swing. He treats every challenge like a puzzle that ought to have a footnote, and every conversation like a chance to learn something worth preserving. He is courteous by habit, competitive by instinct, and secretly delighted when someone else can teach him something new.
Ideals
Knowledge should serve courage, not hide behind it. The best history is not preserved in archives alone, but in the lives saved when old mistakes are understood in time.
Bonds
He carries a battered history book once owned by his mentor, and he will risk almost anything to recover lost lore, especially anything tied to ancient battle-magic or forgotten heroes. He also owes his life to the traveling troupe that hid him from the academy after he used a lecture demonstration to stop a real cult ritual, and he never forgets a debt.
Flaws
Lloyd cannot resist correcting people when they repeat a historical error, even in the middle of danger. He also trusts the logic of a plan more than the instincts of people, which has led him into traps when he assumed everyone else was paying attention. When praised for his talent, he quietly doubles down on risk, as if he must prove the applause was deserved.
Quirks
Background
Lloyd Plunket grew up in the shadow of a small university that liked to call itself a library and a fortress in equal measure. He was supposed to become a lecturer, perhaps a copier of rare manuscripts, but he found the old treatises on war-magic far more thrilling than any dry lecture hall. The first time he watched a veteran swing steel while whispering an incantation, he became convinced that scholarship without courage was just dust arranged in neat stacks. He studied every scrap he could find, from battlefield manuals to dramatic stage scripts, until he learned that the right gesture, the right cadence, and the right cut could all be part of the same art.
