Appearance
Togrik is a broad-shouldered goliath standing just over seven and a half feet tall, with slate-gray skin marked by pale, geometric birth-patterns along his arms and neck. His black hair is kept in a tight braided topknot secured with small wooden prayer beads. He smells faintly of juniper smoke, wool, and the bitter mountain herbs he uses in poultices, a scent he does not realize clings to him. His large square teeth show prominently when he laughs or chews, and he eats with deliberate, quiet concentration, using his powerful jaw as though every meal were a ritual. He wears scale mail beneath a weathered blue-gray cloak, carries a round shield painted with a white sunburst, and keeps a mace and holy symbol close at hand.
Mannerisms
Togrik pauses before answering difficult questions, pressing one thick thumb against the nearest prayer bead. When entering a room, he instinctively notes exits, windows, and anyone who looks ill. He bows his head slightly whenever someone mentions the dead.
Personality
Togrik is patient, observant, and unexpectedly gentle with frightened people. He speaks in short, careful sentences because he considers careless words a form of waste. Around food, however, his restraint disappears. He becomes intensely focused on chewing, seasoning, and making sure everyone has been served before he takes a second portion. He enjoys dry humor but delivers it so solemnly that strangers often need several seconds to realize he is joking.
Ideals
Mercy. Strength exists to shelter the vulnerable. Any power that cannot be used to ease another person's suffering is only vanity.
Bonds
The highland shrine that raised him is his second family. He will return to it with enough wealth and influence to establish a permanent infirmary, so no traveler or villager must die waiting for help.
Flaws
He treats requests for help as sacred obligations, even when doing so is reckless. He is also quietly judgmental of people who complain about discomfort, because he mistakes endurance for virtue and has not yet learned that pain is not a moral test.
Quirks
Background
Togrik was born among a highland goliath clan that measured a person by what they carried for others, not by what they carried for themselves. During a winter avalanche, he found an injured shrine keeper buried beneath the snow. Togrik spent two days digging with his bare hands and feeding the old priest melted snow until rescuers arrived. The priest later taught him letters, prayers, and the practical holiness of tending wounds, cleaning sacred places, and making sure frightened people were not left alone in the dark. At the mountain temple, Togrik became an acolyte of the Life Domain, though he never abandoned the stern customs of his clan. He learned that strength was not merely the ability to lift stone or endure cold. It was also the patience to listen, the discipline to refuse cruelty, and the courage to stand between danger and someone smaller. He left the temple after a fever swept through a nearby valley, carrying its blue-gray vestments, a mace blessed with juniper oil, and a conviction that divine service must be taken where suffering is found, not merely where prayers are comfortable.
