Features

10 features

Bonus action

  • Martial ArtsLevel 1

Martial Arts functions while Leus is unarmed or wielding only monk weapons and is wearing no armor and wielding no shield. Monk weapons are shortswords and simple melee weapons that lack the two-handed and heavy properties. While the feature applies, Leus can use Dexterity instead of Strength for attack and damage rolls with unarmed strikes and monk weapons, can use 1d4 in place of their normal damage die, and after taking the Attack action with an unarmed strike or monk weapon can make one unarmed strike as a bonus action. A pike is a martial heavy two-handed weapon, so it is not a monk weapon and is not included in Monk 1 weapon proficiency.

Always on

  • Unarmored DefenseLevel 1

While Leus is wearing no armor and wielding no shield, her AC equals 10 + Dexterity modifier + Wisdom modifier. With Dexterity 14 and Wisdom 11, this is AC 12. Her recorded padded armor is equipment she possesses; if she wears it, Unarmored Defense does not apply.

  • GrapplerLevel 1

Prerequisite Strength 13 or higher. Leus has advantage on attack rolls against a creature she is grappling. She can use her action to try to pin a creature she has grappled; she makes another grapple check, and on a success both Leus and the creature are restrained until the grapple ends.

  • Play Reference — Saves, Skills, Armor, and Acolyte ChoicesLevel 1

Monk saving throw proficiencies: Strength and Dexterity. Half-orc grants Intimidation proficiency. Acolyte grants Insight and Religion proficiency and two additional languages; the surviving player record currently lists only Common and Orc, so Rebekah’s two Acolyte language choices remain to be restored. Monk 1 also grants two class-skill choices from Acrobatics, Athletics, History, Insight, Religion, and Stealth; the surviving record does not identify those selections. Leus has no monk armor proficiency. If she wears padded armor without another source of light-armor proficiency, the 2014 nonproficient-armor rule applies, and Martial Arts and Unarmored Defense are inactive. Her current listed AC 12 matches fighting unarmored.

  • DarkvisionHalf-OrcLeus can see in dim light within 60 feet as though it were bright light and in darkness as though it were dim light; she sees only shades of gray in darkness.
  • MenacingHalf-Orcproficiency in Intimidation.
  • Relentless EnduranceHalf-Orcwhen reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, Leus can drop to 1 hit point instead; this refreshes after a long rest.
  • Savage AttacksHalf-Orcwhen Leus scores a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, she rolls one additional weapon damage die and adds it to the critical-hit damage.

Appearance

Half-orc, age 35, 71 inches tall, 250 lb, yellow eyes, brownish-green skin, black hair.

Personality

Rebekah controls Leus's full characterization. Her established background includes disciplined study, physical training, long familiarity with Orla-un's working community, serious Sovereign Host formation, and years of practical dealings with Deyla Widm through the monastery's wine trade.

Ideals

Leus was raised in Orla-un's educated Sovereign Host tradition, which commonly treats the Sovereigns as names and stories for real principles active in the world. Rebecca controls Leus's own conclusions about that tradition.

Bonds

The Monastery of Orla-un is Leus's primary upbringing and home. The Sovereign Host formed her religious vocabulary and remains meaningful to her. She has a long-standing business relationship with Deyla Widm through Orla-un's purchase of Riverwood wild fruits for specialty wines, and Leus was normally the monastery representative who handled those dealings. Senior Sovereign Host clergy know old rumors and references concerning the Hall of Turning Stars and know that druids preserve route lore connected to it. When the Host contacted the druids, Deyla was willing to guide Leus because she already knew and trusted her. Leus has been assigned to work with Deyla, establish the route to the Hall, confirm what can be observed there, and report back. Deyla will guide her after Leus helps address the immediate Riverwood disturbances.

Background

Leus is Rebekah's female half-orc monk with a Sovereign Host Acolyte background. Rebekah controls Leus's characterization, choices, and final theology in play. Her surviving player-sheet record establishes age 35, height 71 inches, weight 250 pounds, yellow eyes, brownish-green skin, black hair, Strength 15, Dexterity 14, Constitution 13, Intelligence 12, Wisdom 11, Charisma 8, and 16 hit points. She knows Common and Orc. Her recorded possessions include a pike, backpack, padded armor, and 5 gp. Leus was raised and formed at the Monastery of Orla-un on the edge of Wyr in western Aundair. Orla-un is a living warrior-monastic community and vineyard known for joining strong minds to stronger bodies and for producing a famous sweet, dark wine. Leus's upbringing there included serious Sovereign Host religious formation, physical discipline, study, work, and ordinary community responsibilities. Leus has known Deyla Widm for years through Orla-un's wine trade. The monastery uses selected wild fruits from the Riverwood in some specialty wines, and Leus was normally the Orla-un representative who dealt directly with Deyla to arrange those purchases. Their relationship is longstanding, practical, and built through repeated business dealings. The Ring of Siberys is visibly fragmenting, and Siberys shardfalls are becoming more frequent. Senior Sovereign Host clergy and scholars know old references and rumors concerning the Hall of Turning Stars, an ancient site said to lie in the Icehorn Mountains and to have been used by dragons to observe the heavens. The Host also knows that druidic traditions preserve route lore concerning the Hall. When the Host contacted the druids seeking access, Deyla was one of the central figures with useful location knowledge and was willing to guide Leus, whom she already knew and trusted through years of dealings with Orla-un. Leus was therefore assigned as the Sovereign Host's field representative. Her task is to work with Deyla, establish and follow the route to the Hall, confirm what can actually be reached and observed, and report back to her superiors. Leus is not an expert on the Hall and does not possess special knowledge about it beyond the Host's old references and rumors. Deyla's immediate concern is the Riverwood, where reports of fouled water, abnormal awakened-animal behavior, hostile plant growth, and other magical irregularities are appearing close enough together to require coordinated investigation. Leus has agreed to help Deyla with the Riverwood first. After that work is addressed, Deyla will guide Leus toward the Hall of Turning Stars. At Deyla's request, Leus met Greensinger Garnet Hails at Owl's Perch. Garnet arrived with Willow Nightshade, and the group traveled south together with St’eeev toward the Riverwood. St’eeev's Sky Scale had independently led him to Leus and to the prophetic phrase 'Hall of Turning Stars.' St’eeev knows the phrase but does not know what the Hall is. Leus knows only the same broad Vassal rumors and assignment context available to her through the Sovereign Host. The exact cause of the Ring's fragmentation, the full history of the Hall, why it was abandoned, its operational state, and what the party will find there remain Open and will be established through play.
