Appearance
Kranos is a massive construct built from gleaming white marble, though the polish has dulled with time. His eyes are two large, multifaceted blue sapphires that hum with a faint inner light. On the crown of his head, a thick mat of emerald green moss grows like a mane of hair. He is constantly shrouded in layers of tattered, sandy brown desert robes and heavy linen bandages intended to hide the clockwork mechanisms that click softly within his stone joints.
Mannerisms
Kranos moves with a heavy, deliberate grace. He rarely makes sudden movements, and his sapphire eyes take several seconds to refocus when someone speaks to him, giving him a thoughtful, if somewhat detached, appearance.
Personality
Soft-spoken and deeply observant, Kranos treats all living things with the delicate care a sculptor gives to wet clay. He is acutely aware of how 'artificial' he seems to others and often tries to minimize his presence. Despite his imposing size, he prefers listening to speaking, and he possesses a dry, stone-cold sense of humor that often catches companions off guard.
Ideals
Preservation. Everything that is beautiful or functional deserves to be kept from the clutches of decay.
Bonds
My creation, Oakhart, is the only piece of home I have left, and I would risk my own destruction to keep him functional.
Flaws
I am deeply insecure about my nature and will often freeze or retreat if I think someone is looking too closely at my mechanical parts.
Quirks
Background
Originally designed as a masterpiece of spiritual architecture, Kranos was intended to be a motionless guardian for a long-abandoned temple of beauty. For a hundred years, he stood at the altar, silent and still as the local flora claimed his scalp and the temple around him fell into decay. When the magic animating the sanctuary finally flickered out, Kranos felt a strange pull toward self-determination. He left his pedestal, finding the world beyond the temple walls to be a loud, abrasive, and often cruel place for a man made of precious stone. He settled in the slums of a sprawling trade city, learning to scavenge for parts and hide his value behind the appearance of a diseased hermit. To cope with his isolation, he used his inherent knowledge of stonework and clockwork to craft Oakhart, a silent humanoid protector that serves as both a tool and a surrogate companion. Now, he travels to find the last remnants of the art that gave him life, hoping to find a place where he no longer has to hide under rags.
