Rico stands at the sturdy height of a dwarf but is covered in light brown fur, resembling a literal bear cub. He has very large, expressive yellow eyes. He wears blue basketball shorts, red and white high top sneakers, and sometimes a bright floral shirt. His wrists are adorned with spiked bracelets mixed with colorful braided leather and beaded friendship bracelets.

Rico is incredibly earnest and helpful, often using his keen sense of smell to find lost neighborhood pets. Despite his rugged survival skills, he is still a middle schooler who worries about his grades and his appearance. He is deeply affectionate toward his dads and values hard work, often seen carving small trinkets when he is bored.

Found as a lost, fur-covered cub in the woods, Rico was adopted by Neil and Andrew, two talented woodworkers who raised him in their cozy eco-friendly home. Growing up in a joiner's shop, he developed a deep appreciation for the way things are put together, eventually becoming a licensed member of the guild himself. Though he appears to be a hybrid of dwarf and bear, he considers himself a dwarf through and through, taking pride in his sturdy build and artisanal heritage. Rico attends Brightwater Middle School where he balances his studies with his duties as a suburban ranger. He uses his survival skills to protect the local parks and help his neighbors, often acting as a bridge between the civilized town and the wilder forest edges. He recently celebrated his fourteenth birthday, a milestone he marked by helping his dads build a new sustainable expansion for their house.
