Appearance
A slight wood-elf woman with pale copper skin, long ash-brown hair braided with sprigs of dried thyme, and clear green eyes that seem more attentive than bright. She wears a patched brown robe over leather armor, with a weathered shield at her back, a carved quarterstaff in hand, and ink stains on her fingers from copying prayers and herbal notes.
Mannerisms
She speaks in careful, measured sentences and often pauses as if listening for an answer only she can hear. When nervous, she smooths the edge of a page with her thumb, then taps two fingers against her holy symbol before speaking. She tends to bow her head slightly to trees, wells, and threshold stones as though greeting elders.
Personality
Patient, observant, and quietly stubborn. Ilyra believes every problem has a proper season, and she tries to meet violence with preparation, grief with ritual, and anger with steady hands. She is gentle in speech, but she does not yield once she has decided something needs protecting.
Ideals
Reverence. Every living thing is a verse in the same sacred hymn, and my duty is to keep that hymn from breaking. Kindness is not softness, it is disciplined care for what is fragile.
Bonds
She carries a prayer book copied by hand from the temple library, and she will risk herself before letting it be lost. The grove-temple that raised her is still suffering from a slow blight, and she is determined to find the cause and restore it.
Flaws
I over-apologize when I ask for help, then refuse help once it is offered. I can become so focused on tending small wounds and minor rituals that I miss the larger danger until it is almost on top of me. I also feel guilty whenever I must use force, as if every thorn I call up is a betrayal of my vows.

Background
Ilyra Thalanil was raised in a quiet grove-temple where the old hymns were sung to the roots of ancient trees, not to marble altars. She was expected to become a keeper of records, a copier of prayers, and a patient listener for villagers who came seeking solace. Instead, she became fascinated by the living edge of sanctity, the way moss reclaimed stone, how rain softened grief, and how a blessing could be spoken in the same breath as a seed prayer. Her tutors saw an awkward novice with poor posture and ink-stained sleeves, but the forest recognized a devotee. When the temple’s spring began to fail, Ilyra spent nights in trance among the roots, listening for what the land needed. It answered in dreams, not with sermons, but with instructions. Dig here. Burn there. Wait. Heal. She left with a shield, a sickle, a satchel of copied rites, and the certainty that reverence without stewardship is only ceremony. Now she travels as a druid of the Circle of the Land, though she still thinks like an acolyte. She leaves offerings for roadside shrines, copies local prayers when she can, and quietly tends wounded animals, travelers, and broken fields alike. Her magic is humble and devotional rather than dramatic, a whispered conversation with soil, storm, and spirit. Even the spirits she summons seem reluctant, as if called from their rest by someone who apologizes first and casts second.
