Appearance
Merlin is a wiry human with tanned, wind-burned skin and short, choppy black hair. He possesses a permanent, focused scowl that makes him look perpetually inconvenienced. He wears olive-drab monk robes that have been heavily patched with animal hides and reinforced with leather straps for mountain travel.
Mannerisms
Merlin talks in very short, percussive sentences. He has a habit of vibrating his lips in a soft 'bzzz' sound when he is trying to remain patient.
Personality
Merlin is defined by a strange, quiet intensity that manifests as sudden bursts of physical irritation. He finds most social interactions unnecessarily complicated and prefer to express his frustration by tensing his shoulders and raising his fists in a stiff, silent protest against the world.
Ideals
Self-reliance. The only person you can truly count on to deal with the world's nonsense is yourself.
Bonds
I carry a jagged, mountain stone in my pocket that reminds me of the monastery. It is cold, heavy, and serves no purpose, much like my training.
Flaws
I have a very short fuse and will react physically to the slightest provocation or annoyance.

Background
Raised by a reclusive order of silent monks in the Sunderpeak Mountains, Merlin was always the outlier of his monastery. While his peers found enlightenment in stillness, Merlin found only itching robes and cold soup. He realized early on that his 'meditation' was most effective when he was moving with violent precision or screaming at the wind. Eventually, his masters politely suggested that his 'spirit' was better suited for the chaotic world below the clouds. Since descending from the peaks, Merlin has lived as an outlander, preferring the company of squirrels and rocks to the babbling of townsfolk. He views the adventuring life not as a quest for glory, but as a series of obstacles that he must punch out of his way so he can finally find a quiet place to sit down. His movements are jagged and aggressive, reflecting a man who has spent far too much time fighting against gravity and his own short fuse.
