Appearance
Sera is a lean, athletic human woman standing about five feet eight inches tall. Her wiry strength comes from years of running, climbing, and surviving in the undercity. She has warm olive skin marked by a thin scar across her collarbone and a puckered mark on her left forearm. Her angular face has high cheekbones, a sharp jawline, and a straight nose that appears to have been broken and reset. Her wide-set eyes are deep brown, almost black, and constantly alert. Her black hair is cut in a practical, tousled pixie style. She wears fitted dark gray shirts or tank tops, well-worn black cargo pants, heavy lace-up boots, and a weathered leather jacket with numerous concealed pockets. A hoodie, hat, or raised collar helps her disappear into a crowd.
Mannerisms
Sera habitually scans ceilings, windows, stairwells, and reflective surfaces before settling anywhere. She speaks in short, precise sentences, rarely wastes a gesture, and taps two fingers against her thigh when calculating an escape route.
Personality
Practical, observant, and intensely self-reliant, Sera respects competence more than rank. She has little patience for wasted motion, sanctimonious leaders, or pointless cruelty. In a crisis, her voice becomes calm and clipped, and she turns brutally effective. Away from danger, she shows a dry sense of humor and a reluctant tenderness toward people who are overlooked or underestimated.
Ideals
Competence is its own kind of morality. People who can protect others should do so, especially when institutions choose not to.
Bonds
I owe my life to the undercity community that hid me when my former crew marked me for death. I will protect those people from predatory gangs, corrupt officials, and anyone who treats them as disposable.
Flaws
I assume every offer has a hidden angle, and I would rather sabotage a good opportunity than risk being betrayed again. When frightened, I become controlling, secretive, and impossible to reassure.
Quirks
Background
Sera grew up in the service tunnels beneath a sprawling high-fantasy metropolis, where enchanted transit lines, sewer canals, and forgotten vaults formed a second city below the streets. Her mother repaired illegal arcane machinery, while her older brother ran messages for a neighborhood crew. When the crew betrayed him to protect a wealthy patron, Sera learned two lessons that never left her: locks are more honest than people, and every room has an exit if you are willing to climb far enough. She began as a lookout, then became a burglar, infiltrator, and courier. Sera specialized in entering places that were supposed to be impossible to enter, particularly corporate towers, noble estates, and sealed magical archives. She eventually abandoned her old crew after discovering that their newest job involved selling vulnerable residents to a private magical prison. Now she works independently, taking jobs that pay well enough to keep her fed and connected, but quietly sabotaging anyone who preys on the powerless. Her reputation is that of a thief who can get through any door, though among the undercity poor she is known as someone who occasionally leaves the door unlocked behind her.
