Appearance
A tall, broad-shouldered female lizardfolk with olive-green scales mottled by pale Andean-like bands along her jaw, throat, and forearms. Her amber eyes are steady and unblinking, and a row of small ivory teeth shows whenever she speaks with conviction. She wears a weathered acolyte's vestment beneath practical leather armor, with a copper holy symbol tied to her wrist rather than worn around her neck. Her clawed hands are stained with incense ash and blue ritual pigment.
Mannerisms
Tlaksi tilts her head sharply when listening, as though triangulating a sound no one else can hear. She pauses before answering questions, tasting the air, and speaks of emotional states as physical sensations such as heat, pressure, or dryness.
Personality
Tlaksi is quiet, observant, and intensely practical. She offers comfort through useful actions rather than reassuring words, bringing water, sharpening a weapon, or standing guard through the night. Her curiosity is focused and unsettling, especially when she encounters unfamiliar beliefs, dreams, or magical phenomena. Though she can seem stern, she is deeply protective of anyone who is frightened or overlooked.
Ideals
Service. A life is measured by what it preserves in others. Power is only holy when it is used to shelter the vulnerable.
Bonds
The temple that saved her is still struggling to care for the sick and displaced. Tlaksi will risk almost anything to protect it and repay the priests who gave her a life.
Flaws
She accepts bargains too quickly when someone is suffering, even when the terms are clearly dangerous. She also hides disturbing visions from her companions because she believes admitting fear would prove that her patron has already weakened her.
Quirks
Background
Tlaksi was hatched in a reed-marsh settlement where the elders taught that survival was a sacred exchange. Every creature took what it needed, returned what it could, and remembered the shape of the debt. When a fever swept through the nesting pools, Tlaksi was brought to a small temple maintained by traveling priests. She survived because of their medicines and because she refused to leave the sick behind. In gratitude, she remained at the temple, learning prayers, funerary rites, and the patient work of tending frightened people who did not understand her kind. Her faith changed during a night of offerings beside a mountain spring. Something beneath the water answered her prayer, not with words, but with a vast awareness that pressed against her mind like a second sky. The presence offered knowledge in exchange for service, and Tlaksi accepted before she understood the cost. Now she travels as an acolyte and warlock, presenting her strange visions as omens while secretly searching for the source of the voice. She believes the entity may be guiding her toward a greater purpose, but fears that every spell brings her closer to becoming an instrument rather than a person.
