Appearance
Malice is a lean, athletic drow woman with obsidian skin, silver-white hair cut to her jaw, and vivid red eyes that rarely blink. Fine scars cross her palms and forearms, each one earned during a private ordeal of devotion. She wears dark chain mail beneath layered crimson, saffron, and violet robes modeled after surface samurai garments. A lacquered half-mask hangs at her hip, painted with a stylized black widow. Her twin scimitars are curved like hunting spiders' legs, their hilts wrapped in red silk and black cord.
Mannerisms
Malice keeps her back perfectly straight, even while resting. Before drawing a weapon, she smooths one sleeve as though preparing for a formal ceremony. She addresses Lolth in a near-whisper after every kill, naming the victim and explaining why the death was useful.
Personality
Malice is quiet, ceremonious, and intensely attentive. She treats every conversation as a contest of concealed intentions, watching hands, posture, and pauses more closely than words. She is fascinated by surface customs and imitates them with grave sincerity, though her version of courtesy often includes veiled threats, ritualized pain, or a poisoned gift.
Ideals
Devotion. A worthy servant does not need fairness, praise, or survival. She needs only a command and the will to fulfill it in the most instructive way possible.
Bonds
Lolth is the only mother, sovereign, and beloved Malice recognizes. She will risk everything to protect a living spider, recover a relic of the Spider Queen, or punish anyone who insults Lolth's name. A sealed fragment of House Travra's insignia remains hidden in her armor, and she has not yet decided whether to destroy it or present it to Lolth as the final proof of her severance.
Flaws
Malice confuses cruelty with holiness and assumes that compassion is either weakness or concealed treachery. She cannot easily refuse a challenge, especially one delivered in the language of honor. If she believes Lolth is testing her, she may knowingly choose the more painful or dangerous path simply to prove that she deserves to survive.
Quirks
Background
Before she became Malice, she was Aurelia of House Travra, a lesser daughter raised among silk chambers, poisoned courtesies, and the constant fear of disappointing Lolth. She entered the priesthood young, mastering the liturgies of betrayal and learning to read the meaning of a spider's movement in the dark. Her talent was not in grand sermons, but in obedience. She never asked whether a command was just. She asked only whether she had carried it out completely. The spiders eventually marked her for a different service. During a house feud, Aurelia was ordered to kill a rival's champion in ceremonial combat. She abandoned the expected spear and shield, instead using hidden blades, venom, a hooked sash, and a deliberate wound to herself that made her opponent hesitate. When the champion died, spiders covered the arena walls, and the priestesses declared that Lolth had chosen her as a blade. Aurelia surrendered her house name that night. She took the name Malice, not as a boast, but as a function. She now travels beyond the Underdark in layered armor and bright robes, studying the surface world's samurai legends while rewriting their honor into the Way of the Black Widow, where deception is discipline, pain is proof, and victory belongs to whoever makes the fairest contest impossible.
