Appearance
Maeve is a towering human woman, six feet tall and built like a siege engine honed into perfection. Her frame is all dense, corded muscle, broad shoulders, powerful arms, and a rigid core marked by pale scars. She has sun-darkened skin, freckles across her nose, a square jaw, a broken and reset nose, and sharp jade eyes that seem to measure every threat in the room. Her crimson hair is cropped short and spiked, usually a little wild no matter how carefully it is cut. She favors dark, practical modern clothes that cling to her athletic build, and she wears a single silver ring on a leather cord at her throat as her only ornament.
Mannerisms
Maeve stands with a soldier's stillness, feet planted as if she is always ready for impact. She speaks in short, exact sentences, often punctuated by a glance that measures distance, exits, and threats in a single sweep. When thinking, she rolls the silver ring on her cord between two callused fingers, and when irritated she loosens and retightens her grip as if checking the memory of a weapon in her hand.
Personality
Maeve is intensely disciplined, bluntly honest, and hard to rattle. She is protective in a way that can feel almost territorial, especially toward the wounded, the undertrained, and anyone who reminds her of the people she could not save. Beneath the severity is a dry sense of humor and a surprisingly gentle patience for those who are willing to learn.
Ideals
Duty and competence. Strength means little if it is not used to protect others and hold the line when everything else collapses.
Bonds
She still sends coin and supplies to the garrison where she trained, and she would cross any battlefield to protect the few survivors of her old squad who remain. The silver ring on her cord belonged to a fallen comrade, and Maeve treats it like a vow she has not yet finished paying.
Flaws
Maeve trusts discipline more than empathy, and she can become cold when people waste time, panic, or break formation. She carries guilt like a second set of armor, and when a situation resembles an old disaster she becomes stubborn to the point of recklessness. She also hates being physically helpless, which makes her overtrain, overguard, and sometimes refuse aid until she is nearly forced to accept it.
Quirks
Background
Maeve was born in a border garrison where the line between peace and war was measured in bloodied boots and sleepless watches. She learned discipline before she learned softness, drilled into posture, formation, and violence with the same relentless seriousness other children reserved for games. By adulthood she had become the kind of soldier commanders trusted with impossible ground, the one sent to hold the breach, retrieve the wounded, or break an enemy line with pure physical force. Her body became her proof of survival, every scar a lesson written where no one could ignore it. In time, Maeve discovered that raw strength was only the first weapon. She studied angles, timing, morale, and the tiny failures that unravel even a strong foe. That insight carried her into the path of the Battle Master, a fighter who wins not by rage, but by making every blow, feint, shove, and tactical feint count. Now she travels between modern comforts and ancient battlefields, carrying herself like a veteran in any age. She keeps the silver ring at her throat as a reminder of a comrade she could not save, and of the promise she made to make every future victory mean something.
“Her body became her proof of survival, every scar a lesson written where no one could ignore it.”
