Appearance
Monaco is a broad-shouldered human woman with weathered bronze skin, a broken nose, close-cropped black hair, and a jagged scar running from her left eyebrow to her cheek. Her arms are heavily muscled from years of drilling, marching, and fighting. She wears battered leather armor beneath a red military cloak, carries a massive greataxe, and keeps several handaxes crossed at her back. Her expression is usually amused, defiant, or one heartbeat away from violence.
Mannerisms
Monaco rolls one shoulder before entering a fight, counts exits whenever she enters a room, and addresses unfamiliar people as if they are fellow soldiers until they prove otherwise. When angry, she speaks very softly. When amused, she laughs at exactly the wrong moment.
Personality
Monaco is blunt, energetic, and fiercely entertaining. She treats danger like a drinking companion, insults people she likes, and becomes intensely protective of anyone who earns her trust. Beneath her swagger is a sharp battlefield instinct and a deep discomfort with quiet rooms, formal authority, and unanswered questions.
Ideals
Freedom. No commander, monarch, god, or prophecy owns my life. I would rather choose a dangerous road than march safely in someone else's formation.
Bonds
Monaco still wears the cracked red cloak of her old unit. She believes at least one surviving comrade is being hunted for a crime the officers committed, and she will abandon comfort, coin, or common sense to find that comrade and expose the truth.
Flaws
Monaco mistakes restraint for weakness. She starts fights when she feels controlled, spends money as though tomorrow is a lie, and becomes dangerously reckless when someone questions her courage. She also has a habit of trusting anyone who shares a drink with her, even when every instinct says they are trouble.
Quirks
Background
Monaco was raised in a frontier garrison where the sound of boots on packed earth was more familiar than birdsong. As a human child among career soldiers, she learned early that courage was expected, obedience was useful, and survival belonged to whoever could keep moving after everyone else stopped. She joined the army before she was old enough to understand the politics behind its wars, becoming a shock trooper who broke enemy lines with a greataxe and laughed loudly enough to frighten the wounded.
