Appearance
A sharp-featured human with carefully combed dark hair, intelligent gray eyes, and an elegant but slightly rumpled scholar's coat worn over practical robes. Their fingers are ink-stained, a silver signet ring flashes on one hand, and they carry a satchel packed with quills, notes, and a worn spellbook tied shut with blue ribbon.
Mannerisms
Speaks as if delivering a lecture, smooths invisible wrinkles from his sleeves when thinking, and pauses before answering as though consulting an internal index of facts.
Personality
Polite in a way that can be either charming or infuriating, Edrin treats every conversation like a delicate negotiation and every mystery like a personal challenge. He is generous with knowledge, stingy with trust, and secretly delighted by anyone brave enough to argue with him intelligently.
Ideals
Knowledge is the only true birthright. Titles, wealth, and armies rise and fall, but understanding endures, and those who master it have a duty to use it wisely.
Bonds
Edrin is determined to restore his family's fading influence without becoming the kind of noble he secretly despises. He keeps his mother's signet ring and a sealed letter promising him a place in the family if he returns in honor.
Flaws
Edrin cannot resist proving that he is the smartest person in the room, even when silence would serve him better. He also trusts elegant plans more than messy people, which has led him to underestimate both heartbreak and goblins.

Background
House Velloran was never the sort of noble family that won wars or built empires. They won influence the old way, through marriages, patronage, and the patient collecting of favors. Born the second child of that house, Edrin was expected to become a courtier, a ledger keeper, or perhaps a decorative magistrate who smiled at banquets and signed whatever papers were placed before him. Instead, he found the family library, and then the family secrets hidden within it. The oldest volumes spoke of lineages, celestial omens, and practical spellcraft, as if scholarship itself were a kind of inheritance. Edrin learned quickly that words could bend people, but formulas could bend reality.
