Appearance
Tall and powerfully built for an elf, with broad shoulders, dense muscle, and long ash-brown hair braided with dried roots and copper wire. His skin is olive-toned with a faint green cast around the knuckles and throat, as though chlorophyll has begun to settle beneath it. He wears stained leather armor reinforced with strips of dark bark, and a heavy wooden shield grown from a single twisted root. His voice is normally low and controlled, but when angered his breathing becomes wet and rhythmic, almost like wind moving through reeds. Within a minute of meeting him, people notice that he repeatedly checks the small seed pouch at his belt, pressing it shut with his thumb even when it is already closed.
Mannerisms
Kresz speaks in short, deliberate phrases, often pausing to listen to the nearest plant before answering. He rolls his shoulders as though testing the strength of invisible vines, presses his thumb against his seed pouch whenever someone lies, and takes slow nasal breaths when calm. When rattled, his breathing turns damp and rapid, his voice drops into a whisper, and nearby leaves tremble even when there is no wind.
Personality
Kresz is patient, physically imposing, and unnervingly attentive. He treats conversation like cultivation, giving people space to reveal their roots before deciding whether they deserve water, pruning, or eradication. He has a dry, almost scholarly manner when discussing terrible acts, and shows sincere tenderness toward seedlings, vermin, and any creature that survives by choking something stronger.
Ideals
Dominion. Nature is not kind, and neither should its chosen servant be. The strong root through the weak, and civilization exists only because the forest has not yet decided to reclaim it.
Bonds
The strangler fig beneath the ruined shrine is his true master, and he will destroy anyone who threatens the ravine where it grows. He carries its first seed in a sealed pouch and believes it must eventually be planted beneath the greatest city in the world.
Flaws
He cannot accept that anything should live merely because it wants to. When he sees a thriving garden, a prosperous town, or a happy family, he instinctively looks for the weak point where it can be pruned. He also becomes irrationally defensive if anyone touches his seed pouch.
Quirks
Background
Kresz Vadrik was born among wood elves who treated the forest as a relative, a teacher, and occasionally a grave. He rejected their reverence early. To him, a forest was not gentle or wise. It was patient, hungry, and honest about its desire to swallow everything. While other druids learned to soothe wounded trees, Kresz learned which roots strangled their neighbors and which flowers lured animals into slow death. He eventually disappeared into a ravine where an ancient strangler fig had grown through the bones of a forgotten shrine. During twelve years of isolation, Kresz discovered a buried druidic rite that could make plant life respond to command through pain, blood, and concentrated will. The rite changed him. Vines curl toward his hands, seedpods open when he exhales, and the roots beneath his feet sometimes shift before he gives an order. He returned to civilization not as a guardian of nature, but as its appointed correction. Kresz believes cities, farms, and kingdoms are temporary infections. He intends to cultivate a world where forests reclaim every road, every throne, and every grave, beginning with the people foolish enough to mistake his help for mercy.
