Appearance
Ignis stands as a towering wall of muscle with deep, dark crimson scales that shimmer like cooling lava. His snout is crossed by thick, pale scars from encounters with mountain predators, and his golden eyes burn with an intense, steady focus. He wears battle worn chain mail that has been patched many times, and a massive greatsword with a hilt wrapped in cured hide is always strapped to his back. Even when standing still, a faint scent of woodsmoke and hot metal clings to him.
Mannerisms
He grinds his teeth when impatient, creating a sound like heavy stones rubbing together. He often stands with his arms crossed, towering over those he speaks to.
Personality
Ignis is a dragonborn of few words, preferring the honesty of action over the potential deception of speech. He is disciplined, stoic, and carries the rugged patience of a man who has lived through long, lean winters. While he may seem cold to city folk, he is fiercely loyal to his comrades, treating them with the same grim protective instinct he once gave to his clan.
Ideals
Honor is the strongest steel. A person is only as good as the promises they keep and the strength they show in the face of death.
Bonds
The Varvaxos clan is everything. Every coin I earn and every enemy I defeat is a step toward saving my people and my mountain.
Flaws
I have little patience for the laws of civilization and the soft people who hide behind them. If it cannot be hunted or eaten, I often find it worthless.
Quirks
Background
Ignis was raised in the smoking crags of the volcanic Ashpeaks, far from the comforts of city stone. His tribe, the Varvaxos, were nomads who followed the seasonal shifts of the earth, hunting great beasts that survived in the heat. As a young warrior, Ignis distinguished himself through a tireless discipline with the blade and the raw power of his fire. He served as a scout and guardian, learning to read the language of the wind and the signs of the parched earth while defending the tribe's perimeter from roaming monsters. When a shadow fell over his homeland in the form of a corrupting blight, the clan elders sent Ignis into the lowlands to find the source of the rot. Transitioning from the harsh wilderness to the crowded streets of human kingdoms was jarring. He carries the weight of his clan's survival on his shoulders, viewing every tavern and merchant stall as a strange, unnecessary distraction from his mission. His steel is his primary voice, and he speaks only when the situation demands a direct truth. Now a seasoned veteran of both the wilds and the road, he operates with a focused intensity. He is a master of the Greatsword, a weapon he maintains with obsessive care. While he misses the smell of sulfur and the roar of the caldera, he has found a new sense of purpose in protecting those who cannot defend themselves from the predators of the dark. He sees the world through the lens of a hunter, always looking for the next threat to neutralize.
