Appearance
A broad-shouldered half-orc woman with moss-green skin, a strong jaw, small ivory tusks, and amber eyes. Her black hair is shaved on one side and braided with copper wire on the other. She wears practical scale mail beneath a soot-stained leather apron, with numerous pouches, vials, and tiny clockwork devices hanging from her belt. Her left forearm bears several faint burn scars from failed experiments, and she carries a rune-etched hammer used as both a tool and a weapon.
Mannerisms
Brakka taps metal objects with one fingernail while thinking, mutters measurements under her breath, and addresses machines as if they have feelings. When excited, she speaks faster and begins gesturing with whatever tool is in her hand.
Personality
Warm, inquisitive, and relentlessly practical. Brakka is quick to help anyone with a broken tool, damaged armor, or difficult problem. She enjoys explaining how things work, but becomes quietly competitive when another craftsperson presents a clever invention. She is more comfortable expressing affection through repairs and useful gifts than through words.
Ideals
Useful things should belong to everyone. Skill has value only when it protects people, solves problems, and leaves the world better than it was found.
Bonds
The Ironpetal Guild gave me a chance when few others would, and I will uncover the truth behind the fire that nearly destroyed it.
Flaws
I become stubborn and defensive when someone questions my craftsmanship, especially if they are correct. I also have a dangerous habit of testing unfinished inventions at the worst possible moment.
Quirks
Background
Brakka Ironpetal was born in a riverside foundry where her human mother repaired farm tools and her half-orc father forged horseshoes. The townsfolk expected Brakka to become a smith, but she was fascinated by the hidden logic inside every object. She took apart locks, clocks, crossbows, and even a magistrate's faulty music box, then rebuilt them into stranger and more useful things. Her talent earned her a place in the local metalworkers guild, though her unconventional methods and occasional explosions made her more famous than respectable. When a fire destroyed a section of the guildhall, Brakka discovered that the blaze had been caused by a deliberately sabotaged arcane device. The guild elders blamed her because the machine had been based on one of her early designs. Rather than accept exile, she left to find the saboteur, clear her name, and recover the stolen blueprint hidden within the device. She now travels as an adventuring artificer, repairing what others discard and treating every dungeon as a workshop full of unsolved problems. Her goodness is practical rather than poetic. If someone is hurt, she will mend their armor, bind their wounds, and then hunt down whoever caused the damage.
