Appearance
A battle-scarred female tiefling with a commander’s bearing, ash-dark skin marked by faint ember-red lines, forward-curving horns, and eyes that seem to be searching for a horizon she cannot remember. She wears a weathered soldier’s shield bearing the scratches of an old war, carries a longsword and javelins with practiced discipline, and keeps a protective mask close at hand, the sort a mentor or tutor might have entrusted to someone they expected to survive. Her armor is plain, functional, and maintained with near-religious care, but the way she grips her shield suggests it was once a memorial, not just equipment.
Mannerisms
She speaks like someone reporting to a commander, concise and precise, even when discussing ordinary things. When uncertain, her hand drifts to the mask at her belt or the edge of her shield, as if touching them might restore what was lost. She pauses before making vows, then says them as though they were carved into stone.
Personality
Karina is calm, controlled, and quietly intense, a woman who learned to survive by obeying training even when her mind offers no map. She has little patience for cruelty, waste, or cowardice, but she is surprisingly gentle with the frightened and injured. She treats every choice like an oath, and every oath like something that might be the only thing holding the world together.
Ideals
Duty. A soldier survives by holding the line, and a paladin should do the same, whether the line is a battlefield, a promise, or a soul in need of protection. Faith. Even without a name for the deity that saved her, she believes mercy is a command worth obeying. Truth. She intends to uncover what happened to her, because memory is a weapon as vital as steel.
Bonds
The shield of her fallen comrade is the one certainty she refuses to part with, and she will protect it as fiercely as she protects living allies. The mask matters just as much, because she believes it came from someone who trusted her with her life, her identity, or both. She is driven to uncover the truth of the war she remembers, the glowing intervention that saved her, and whether the deity she now follows is the same power that pulled her out of death.
Flaws
Her memory loss makes her rigid when others rely on certainty she does not have. She can become unnervingly fixated on omens, banners, dragon sightings, and anything that echoes the battle she cannot fully remember. When afraid, she hides it behind duty and procedure, and she sometimes trusts the idea of divine purpose more easily than she trusts her own judgment.

Background
Karina woke in a world she could not name with blood on her hands, a shield in her grasp, a sword at her side, and a mask resting like a promise against her face. She remembers no childhood, no home, not even her own name at first, only the end of something vast and terrible. In her last clear memory, armies clashed beneath the shadow of dragons, the sky choked with fire and monstrous wings, and the world itself seemed to be breaking apart around her. Then came the blow that should have ended her life, and after that, a radiant light that wrapped around her like judgment, mercy, or both. When she opened her eyes again, the war was gone, but the weight of it remained. She knows only fragments of her former life, that she was once a warrior, that the shield was taken as a memento from a fallen comrade or dear friend, and that the mask was given to her for protection by someone important, perhaps a tutor, perhaps something more. With no memory to anchor her, Karina has chosen structure instead. She studies discipline, endurance, and duty as if they are sacred texts, and she has turned that instinct toward devotion to an unknown deity whose hand she believes reached across worlds to save her. In this strange new place, she walks as a paladin not because she knows the god’s name, but because she believes the light chose her for a reason, and she intends to be worthy of it.
