Appearance
A slim half-elf with a thoughtful gaze, dark auburn hair tied back with a silver ribbon, and long fingers stained by ink and rosin. They favor a tailored leather coat with hidden inner pockets for notes and sheet music, and carry a worn lute case covered in travel stickers and old wax seals. Their expression is often caught between amusement and concentration, as if listening for a melody no one else can hear.
Mannerisms
She hums under her breath when thinking, taps a finger in time against any nearby surface, and pauses before answering as though arranging her words into meter. When nervous, she polishes the edge of her lute with her thumb.
Personality
Curious, warm, and lightly irreverent, Elyra treats most conversations like duets, she listens closely, then answers with wit, empathy, or a perfectly timed lyric. She is quick to laugh, quicker to notice lies, and most alive when she is untangling a mystery that everyone else has already given up on.
Ideals
Truth. Knowledge is only useful when it is shared, challenged, and tested in the open.
Bonds
She carries a sealed page torn from a forbidden folio, and she will not rest until she learns why so many people died to keep it hidden.
Flaws
Elyra cannot resist correcting obvious falsehoods, even when silence would be wiser. She trusts documents, relics, and footnotes more easily than living people, and that habit has made her easy to manipulate by anyone with a convincing seal or a neat signature.
Quirks
Background
Elyra Vale was raised on the edge of two worlds, never fully belonging to the long memory of elven kin, nor to the brief certainty of human towns. As a child she found comfort in archives, chapels, and traveling storytellers, learning that a song could unlock a stranger faster than a lockpick and that a well-placed question could open the heaviest door. She spent years copying maps, cataloging old ballads, and helping scholars chase half-forgotten truths until she realized that knowledge without action was just dust in a prettier jar. When a patron at the library tried to bury a dangerous prophecy beneath red tape and silence, Elyra stole the relevant pages and fled with only her lute, her notes, and a head full of unfinished questions. Now she wanders from ruin to ruin, court to campfire, trading wit for welcome and melody for information. She believes every hidden truth deserves a witness, and every lie deserves an audience that knows better. Her songs are bright, but there is steel in them too, a refusal to let the world stay quietly broken.
“Now she wanders from ruin to ruin, court to campfire, trading wit for welcome and melody for information.”
