Appearance
Márton Vesk is a lean, broad-shouldered high elf with weathered bronze skin, close-cropped dark brown hair, and gray-green eyes that rarely stop measuring a room. A thin scar crosses his left eyebrow, and his hands are callused from hauling water, tending graves, and repairing temple roofs. He wears practical chain mail beneath a faded blue-gray tabard, with a plain wooden shield marked by a small silver sunburst. His holy symbol is an iron disk worn smooth from years of handling.
Mannerisms
He rubs the edge of his iron holy symbol whenever he is thinking. Before answering a difficult question, he looks at the speaker's hands rather than their face. He counts his prayers under his breath by touching each knuckle in sequence.
Personality
Márton is patient, observant, and quietly stubborn. He prefers useful work to ceremony and listens carefully before offering advice. Around frightened people he becomes gentle and reassuring, but around bullies his calm turns cold and direct. He has a dry sense of humor that appears most often when everyone else is too tense to laugh.
Ideals
Mercy. A life is not measured by status, ancestry, or usefulness. The helpless deserve care precisely because they cannot repay it.
Bonds
The riverside temple that raised Márton is his true home, and he will risk almost anything to protect its people, records, and sacred grounds.
Flaws
Márton is slow to forgive people who use faith as an excuse for cruelty. He can become self-righteous when challenged, and he often takes on burdens without admitting that he is tired, frightened, or in need of help.
Quirks
Background
Márton Vesk was raised in a riverside temple where elves, humans, and dwarves came to pray before difficult journeys. His elven mother served as a keeper of records, while his human foster-father maintained the shrine, rang the bells, and buried the poor when no family came to claim them. Márton learned early that faith was not only found in visions or grand miracles. It was in clean bandages, a warm bowl of soup, and the decision to stay beside a dying stranger until the end. He entered the temple order as an acolyte after a fever swept through the nearby villages. While older priests argued over doctrine and omens, Márton carried water, sat with the sick, and prayed until his voice failed. His first divine miracle came when a child's breathing steadied beneath his hands. Since then, he has traveled beyond the temple to serve where help is scarce. He is not a radiant preacher or a polished theologian. He is a practical priest who believes the gods are honored most clearly when someone chooses compassion over convenience.
