Appearance
A tall, broad-shouldered high elf with ash-blond hair, pale bronze skin, and gray-green eyes flecked with gold. Their sturdy build is unusual among elves, the result of years spent traveling with expedition teams and hauling waterlogged books from ruined libraries. They wear reinforced leather armor beneath a weather-stained blue scholar's cloak, with a silver-threaded lute case strapped across their back. Their fingers are stained with ink, and a narrow scar crosses the left eyebrow.
Mannerisms
Aelthir taps rhythms against their lute case while thinking, pauses before answering as though consulting an invisible index, and instinctively straightens crooked books, maps, and table settings.
Personality
Quietly intense, methodical, and more comfortable with ancient inscriptions than casual conversation. Aelthir is genuinely kind but often expresses concern by supplying footnotes, emergency plans, and unsolicited historical context.
Ideals
Knowledge should be preserved for everyone, not locked away by nobles, wizards, or institutions that fear what the truth might change.
Bonds
The lost song of the vanished city is the most important discovery in elven history, and I will recover every missing verse. I also owe my life to the archivist who taught me music, whose final unfinished composition I carry everywhere.
Flaws
I correct inaccuracies even when doing so is tactless, dangerous, or completely unnecessary. I also become so absorbed in a mystery that I may ignore obvious immediate problems.
Quirks
Background
Aelthir Vey was raised in a secluded elven archive where every song was treated as a form of history and every story was cataloged by melody, meter, and memory. Although their voice was unremarkable and their natural charm was famously lacking, Aelthir discovered that a well-timed rhythm could make even the most stubborn scholar listen. They learned to play the lute from an elderly archivist, then began accompanying expeditions into abandoned observatories, drowned temples, and ruined wizard towers in search of lost texts. During one expedition, Aelthir found a fragment of an ancient song that described a calamity deliberately erased from elven history. The surviving verses mention a sealed library beneath a city that no longer appears on any map. Aelthir has spent years pursuing references to that place, collecting rumors from mercenaries, sages, smugglers, and ghosts. Their studies have made them a capable lorekeeper and an unexpectedly practical adventurer, though their weak social instincts often make their carefully prepared speeches sound like lectures. Aelthir now travels with companions who can open doors that books cannot, hoping to recover the missing song before someone else uses its secrets for darker purposes.
