Appearance
Virelia is a lean wood elf with weather-darkened bronze skin, long ash-brown hair usually braided with bits of green thread, and sharp amber eyes that seem to measure every exit. Her hands are callused from bowstrings, climbing, and lockwork. She has a narrow, predatory smile, and her pointed teeth show whenever she eats or laughs, which is often at someone else's discomfort. She wears practical forest leathers, keeps her quiver high across her back, and moves with the quiet confidence of someone who expects every room to contain a secret passage.
Mannerisms
Virelia studies people's hands before their faces, especially their fingers, rings, and weapon calluses. She often answers questions while examining a lock, knot, or arrowhead. When amused, she exposes her pointed teeth in a bright, unsettling grin and taps two fingers against her bow as if keeping time with an unheard song.
Personality
Virelia is observant, sardonic, and unnervingly patient. She speaks softly when threatening someone and becomes more polite as her intentions grow more dangerous. She enjoys testing people's boundaries, not because she wants to understand them, but because she wants to know exactly how far they can be pushed.
Ideals
Freedom. No law, oath, god, or ruler has the right to decide what I may take or who I may become. The world belongs to those ruthless enough to claim it.
Bonds
The criminal network that first gave Virelia power still holds a coded ledger containing evidence of her crimes. She intends to recover it, then decide whether to use it to blackmail the organization or destroy it completely.
Flaws
Virelia treats mercy as a weakness and assumes every kindness conceals a demand. She cannot resist exploiting a secret, even when silence would be safer. When cornered, she becomes cruelly amused rather than afraid.
Quirks
Background
Virelia was born beneath the green canopy of an elven woodland, where she learned early that patience was more valuable than kindness. Her clan trained hunters to read broken twigs, wind direction, and animal movement, but Virelia discovered that the same skills could track people just as easily. She began guiding smugglers through protected forest paths, first for coin and later for the satisfaction of proving that every law had a blind spot. When a patrol captain exposed one of her routes, Virelia arranged for him to disappear into a ravine and took his signet ring as payment to herself. Her work eventually brought her into the city, where she became a burglar, courier, and occasional assassin for a criminal network that valued her elven patience. She still prefers the forest, where she can hunt for days without being seen, but she has grown fond of cities because they are full of locked doors, frightened people, and secrets that can be sold. Virelia now travels as a ranger for practical reasons. The wilderness gives her places to hide, the bow gives her a solution at any distance, and the title of adventurer lets her enter places that a common thief could never reach. She has no interest in redemption. She wants influence, leverage, and enough fear surrounding her name that betrayal becomes unthinkable.
