Appearance
Galahad is a broad-shouldered human man with sun-browned skin, dark brown hair kept short beneath his helm, and a neatly trimmed beard. His eyes are steady and observant, and he carries himself with disciplined stillness, as if every room were a guarded checkpoint. He favors his left foot slightly when standing at ease, a habit developed during long border watches. His chain mail is carefully maintained, his shield bears a silver dragon emblem, and a blue-and-gold cord from his family shrine is tied around his sword hilt.
Mannerisms
Galahad stands unnervingly still when listening, keeping both hands visible and his attention fixed on the speaker. Before answering a difficult question, he takes one slow breath through his nose. When angered, his voice becomes quieter and more formal rather than louder. He checks the edge of his longsword with his thumb before entering an unfamiliar settlement.
Personality
Galahad is calm, dutiful, and direct, with a protective instinct that overrides personal comfort. He treats frightened civilians with patient courtesy and treats bullies with cold, uncompromising attention. He prefers clear promises to grand speeches and measures people by what they do when no reward is offered. Though serious in public, he has a dry sense of humor and a surprising tenderness toward animals, camp cooks, and anyone trying bravely to remain hopeful.
Ideals
Justice. The law exists to protect people, not to shelter the cruel. When law and justice conflict, I will defend the innocent and answer for my choice.
Bonds
The border village where I was raised, and the shrine to Bahamut maintained by my parents, must never fall to the creatures and tyrants I swore to oppose.
Flaws
I can be rigid and judgmental when people evade responsibility, and I sometimes mistake obedience to procedure for genuine justice. I find it difficult to forgive myself for any failure, even when the failure was unavoidable.
Quirks
Background
Galahad Dawnwing was raised in a quiet border village where his parents kept a small shrine to Bahamut beside the village well. They taught him that truth was not merely something to speak, but something to defend, especially when the powerful found it convenient to lie. As a child, Galahad carried messages between watchtowers and learned to read the changing moods of frightened travelers, wounded patrols, and merchants returning from dangerous roads. When he came of age, Galahad joined the border guard. His years of service were spent against fiends slipping through ruined summoning sites, monsters driven from the deep forests, and bandits who preyed upon isolated farms. He became known for holding the line while others withdrew, not because he was fearless, but because he believed the weak deserved someone who would remain. A battlefield chaplain recognized his devotion to Bahamut and helped him turn that conviction into a sacred calling. Galahad now travels beyond the borders, seeking the roots of the threats he once fought piecemeal and offering protection wherever law and conscience have failed.
