Appearance
Arpeggio Silverspoon is a lean, quick-moving human with a rakish smile, neatly parted dark hair, and keen silver-gray eyes that miss almost nothing. He dresses like a gentleman when he can, with polished boots, a tailored coat over his armor, and a signet ring he insists is family heirloom. His shield and longsword are impeccably maintained, though his cloak always seems to have one more hidden pocket than anyone expects.
Mannerisms
He speaks in polished, theatrical sentences and punctuates important points with a tap of two fingers against his ring. In tense moments he straightens imaginary cuffs, as if preparing for a banquet rather than a brawl. He watches exits first and faces second, and when he is impressed he gives a tiny, formal bow instead of applause.
Personality
Arpeggio is charming, alert, and impossible to fully trust, though often for the right reasons. He enjoys wordplay, clean tailoring, and winning with style, but he is surprisingly protective of the weak and often puts himself between danger and the people he has taken a liking to. He treats every room like a stage, every negotiation like a duel, and every duel like a performance he intends to survive.
Ideals
Freedom. No noble, guild master, or would-be tyrant should ever own another person's future. He lies, tricks, and fights so that he can remain unowned and help others slip their chains as well.
Bonds
He keeps a silver spoon etched with his mother's initials, the last honest heirloom from a dishonest household. He is determined to buy back the family estate someday, not for pride, but to give his younger sister a safe place to live under her real name.
Flaws
He cannot resist a clever scam, even when honest work would be safer. When cornered, he talks too much, believing he can talk his way out of any danger. He also keeps one too many secrets, and his habit of lying by omission has cost him friends who might have become allies.
Quirks
Background
Arpeggio Silverspoon was born to a family of respectable but impoverished merchants who valued appearances more than honesty. As a boy he learned that a smooth lie could open doors that hard work could not, and that a confident smile often mattered more than bloodlines. He became a prodigy of convenient identities, borrowing names, accents, and wardrobes until even he sometimes struggled to remember which version of himself was the original. That talent eventually drew the attention of a duelist captain who recognized the same thing Arpeggio had learned in the streets, every con is a fight, and every fight is a conversation with consequences. Under that mentor he traded card tricks and forged papers for steel discipline, learning to read a rival's intent with the same attention he once gave to a mark's purse. Now he travels as a polished vagabond, part swindler, part soldier, always one step ahead of the people who want payment, revenge, or the truth. He claims he is only taking what the world already owes him, but in quieter moments he wonders whether he is building a better life or just a more elaborate escape.
