Appearance
Robeert is a broad-shouldered human farmer with a powerful frame built by years of lifting feed sacks, hauling stones, and turning stubborn soil. His sun-browned skin, thick forearms, and permanently rough hands make his former life obvious before he speaks. He keeps his brown hair cropped short beneath a battered wool cap and wears practical chain mail over a faded work shirt. His voice is low and plain, usually accompanied by slow, steady breathing. When danger appears, his breath becomes sharply audible through his nose, and his otherwise patient hands tighten around the haft of his enormous maul.
Mannerisms
Robeert pauses before answering difficult questions, taking one deliberate breath through his nose. He rubs his thumb along the maul's worn haft when thinking, and he automatically checks doors, fences, and wagon wheels for weak points whenever he enters a new place.
Personality
Robeert is patient, practical, and quietly protective. He prefers useful work to ceremony, honest silence to empty speeches, and people who show up when they are needed. He is not naturally warm in conversation, but he remembers who is hungry, whose roof leaks, and which traveler is pretending not to limp. Around a campfire, he tells surprisingly gentle stories about weather, livestock, and the small victories that keep a household alive.
Ideals
A good harvest is one everyone gets to share. Strength has value only when it protects people who cannot protect themselves.
Bonds
The farm at home is his responsibility, and every coin he earns is meant to keep it in the family. He still wears a plain iron buckle from his old unit and will not abandon a fellow soldier who is being hunted or betrayed.
Flaws
Robeert is slow to trust anyone who speaks elegantly, and he often mistakes diplomacy for dishonesty. He can be stubborn to the point of foolishness, especially when someone suggests abandoning a person, animal, or piece of land that he believes is still worth saving. Under pressure, he becomes too quiet, grips his maul until his knuckles pale, and tries to solve complicated problems by applying more force.
Quirks
Background
Robeert was raised on a stubborn patch of farmland where every useful thing had to be repaired, reused, or carried by hand. He learned patience from seasons that refused to cooperate and strength from work that never ended. His family called him Robeert because his father had misheard a traveling priest years ago, and the name stayed. He was never quick with figures or polished in conversation, but he could judge the weight of a grain sack by sight and tell when a fence post would hold before anyone else touched it. When raiders burned several farms along the county road, Robeert joined the local levy with the same practical resolve he brought to planting. He became a soldier because he knew how to endure, not because he dreamed of glory. In battle, he carried a massive maul originally used to break wagon wheels and clear rubble. Its weight suited him perfectly. After years of service, he returned home to farm again, but the road taught him that some threats cannot be left outside the fence. Now he travels with his maul, seeking enough coin to keep his family land safe and enough courage to stand between ordinary people and the violence he once thought he had escaped.
“He learned patience from seasons that refused to cooperate and strength from work that never ended.”
