Appearance
Justyn is a broad-shouldered human with sun-browned skin, a square jaw, and a scar across one eyebrow from an old village brawl. He keeps his dark hair tied back with a leather thong, and his beard is cut short so it never interferes when he is grinning or growling. In battle he wears weathered hide and carries himself like a living battering ram, but at rest his eyes are calm, attentive, and oddly gentle for a man who can split firewood with one swing.
Mannerisms
He folds his arms when thinking, taps two knuckles against his shield or axe haft before a fight, and always scans exits before sitting down. When embarrassed, he rubs the back of his neck and pretends he was checking the horizon. He addresses children and common laborers with formal respect, as if every honest worker were a mayor in disguise.
Personality
Plainspoken, disciplined, and fiercely protective, Justyn carries himself like a village constable wrapped in storm clouds. He is slow to joke but quick to laugh when others are safe, and he prefers honest work, clear rules, and promises that can be kept. Beneath his stern exterior is a deeply compassionate man who believes mercy is strongest when it is chosen, not when it is convenient.
Ideals
Responsibility. Power means nothing unless it is used to protect those with less of it. A true leader does not ask others to endure danger he would not face himself.
Bonds
He will not abandon a village, family, or companion that has placed its trust in him. He keeps a carved wooden token from his home village, and he swore to return only after he has made the roads safe enough for others to travel them.
Flaws
Justyn trusts his judgment too much when he believes someone is acting in bad faith, and he can become stubbornly convinced that force is the cleanest answer. He has little patience for noble excuses, bureaucratic delay, or anyone who hides cruelty behind polite language. When anger rises, he sometimes speaks first and thinks later, then spends the rest of the day trying to make his apology as direct as his threats.
Quirks
Background
Justyn was born the eldest son of a tenant family in a hard-soiled border village where taxes were steep, winters were cruel, and patience was a luxury nobody could afford. He learned early that order mattered, not because the noble lords were wise, but because a desperate village without rules quickly became a village without hope. He worked the fields by day, broke up drunken disputes by night, and found that his temper was most useful when pointed at bullies, raiders, and predators rather than at his neighbors. When a flood and a bandit raid struck in the same season, Justyn was one of the few who stood firm. He rallied the villagers, dragged children from collapsing homes, and drove the raiders off with a stolen axe and raw fury. The stories spread faster than the harvest ever had, and before long people were calling him a hero, though he still insists he only did what needed doing. The fight changed him. The rage that first rose in defense of his home never fully faded, and he came to believe that strength without restraint was just another kind of banditry. He took up the path of the barbarian not to become wild, but to master the wild thing inside himself. His totem is the bear, a symbol of patient strength, protective fury, and the kind of endurance that keeps a family alive through winter. Now he travels from road to road as a wandering shield for the helpless, settling disputes with iron certainty and defending small folk with a voice that brooks no cowardice. He still carries the habits of a farm boy, but every step he takes is guided by the same old promise, no tyrant, monster, or lord will hurt the innocent if Justyn can stand between them and danger.
