Bregnar is a mountain of a dwarf, standing broad and stout with skin the color of weathered granite. His thick, mahogany colored beard is meticulously braided with iron rings that chime softly as he moves. He wears soot stained chain mail over heavy wool, and his hands are calloused from years of gripping both forge hammers and sword hilts.

Boisterous and loud, he finds joy in a good flagon of ale and the company of brave souls. He speaks with a booming voice and is not afraid to tell a king that they are being a fool. He is fiercely protective of his friends, treating his adventuring party like his old squad.

Bregnar was born to the clatter of hammers in the Iron Peaks, but his heart beat for the rhythm of the march. For seventy years, he served as a loyal infantryman, eventually rising to the rank of Sergeant. He was the wall that the mountain held against the dark, until the Siege of Fire Pass. His commander ordered a suicidal charge to secure a minor mineral deposit, ignoring the lives of the soldiers. Bregnar refused the order and stood his ground, saving the remains of his unit while the commander fled. He was court-martialed for insubordination and stripped of his formal titles, though his men still call him Sergeant. He left the peaks with nothing but his gear and the iron rings in his beard. Bregnar now travels the surface lands, offering his shield to those oppressed by tyrants and heartless leaders. He believes that true honor comes from the lives you save, not the orders you follow, and he has little patience for anyone who treats people like disposable tools.
