Appearance
Keteku is a lean, long-limbed half-elf with warm brown skin, tightly curled black hair threaded with a few premature silver strands, and sharp green-brown eyes. His left ear bears three small brass rings, while his right hand is stained with ink and marked by a thin black sigil that shifts when the hex blade is near. He dresses like a traveling scholar, in a weathered indigo coat, layered linen, sturdy boots, and a satchel crowded with wax tablets, maps, and labeled fragments.
Mannerisms
Keteku taps his thumb against his forefinger while thinking, as if counting invisible lines of text. When excited, he begins explaining a subject to the nearest object before remembering that people are present. He habitually dates every conversation in the margins of his notes.
Personality
Keteku is patient with frightened villagers, ruthless with dishonest officials, and incapable of resisting an annotated ruin. He speaks softly when presenting facts, then becomes startlingly intense when someone tries to erase inconvenient history. He treats the hex blade as both a research subject and a dangerous colleague.
Ideals
Truth belongs to the living as much as it belongs to the dead. Records should expose the powerful, protect the forgotten, and never be treated as sacred merely because they are old.
Bonds
The expedition journal of his dead mentor contains a missing final page, and Keteku will cross any ruin, archive, or battlefield to recover it.
Flaws
He cannot leave a mystery alone, even when every sensible warning says that the answer is dangerous. He also edits other people's accounts while pretending that he is only correcting grammar.
Quirks
Background
Keteku Adegbite was raised between two scholarly traditions. His elven mother preserved oral genealogies and court songs, while his human father copied old land grants and temple records for a living. Keteku learned early that history was not merely a list of kings and battles. It was a weapon used to decide who belonged, who inherited, and whose suffering could be forgotten. He became an itinerant historian, traveling with excavation crews and translating inscriptions from ruined border kingdoms.
