Appearance
Talassar is a broad-shouldered brass dragonborn with warm amber scales, lighter gilding along the brow and jaw, and kind gold eyes that often soften before he speaks. He dresses like a practical village champion, with a well-worn traveler's cloak, simple boots, a battered belt for pouches and daggers, and a carved wooden charm from his foster parents hanging at his throat. Faint magical sparks sometimes dance over his claws when he is emotional, and there is a faint river-sheen to the scales along his forearms from the infant years he spent wrapped in wet blankets and rescue blankets.
Mannerisms
Talassar speaks gently but firmly, like someone used to calming frightened neighbors and stubborn livestock. When he is thinking, he rolls a river stone between his claws. Before casting a spell, he often draws a small circle in the air as if blessing the space in front of him. He stands a little too straight whenever someone calls him a hero, as though trying to make room for the title without quite believing it belongs to him.
Personality
Steady, kind, and quietly brave, Talassar treats other people with the patient respect of someone who knows what it means to be chosen by accident and loved by intention. He prefers practical solutions, honest work, and reassuring words over grand speeches. He is warm with children, respectful to elders, and stubbornly unwilling to abandon anyone who has put their trust in him.
Ideals
Duty. Power means little unless it is used to protect the people who cannot protect themselves. The strong owe something to the weak, especially on a floating world where a bad day can send a village into ruin.
Bonds
He owes his life, his name, and his moral compass to the human couple who raised him, and he would cross the sky itself to protect them. He is also deeply bound to the river settlement that first accepted him, and he treats every small town on the flying island as part of an extended family he has sworn to defend.
Flaws
Talassar finds it difficult to ask for help, even when he clearly needs it, because he was raised to be useful before he was raised to be honest about his own burdens. He can also become reckless when a community is threatened, charging in with magic blazing before he has fully thought through the consequences. On rare occasions, praise unsettles him so deeply that he either deflects it with humor or tries to earn it all over again by overextending himself.
Quirks
Background
Talassar was found as an infant drifting down a river that cut through the high country of a great flying island, a landmass that floated above the clouds and carried its own mountains, lakes, and farmlands upon its back. A human couple who lived in a riverside hamlet heard the cry of a child, fished the tiny dragonborn from the current, and raised him as their own. No one in the village could explain how a dragonborn babe had come to them, but Talassar grew up under open skies and among honest people, and he learned early that being strange did not mean being apart. As he matured, small miracles followed him. Candle flames leaned toward his fingers, hailstones melted at his touch, and storms seemed to hesitate when he begged for one more hour of sunlight so the harvest could be brought in. He was never the strongest laborer in the fields, but he was the first to lift fallen beams, the first to stand between a bully and a smaller child, and the first to stride into danger when raiders, monsters, or greed threatened the little communities scattered across the island. In time, the townsfolk began calling him their champion, and Talassar accepted the title not with pride, but with the quiet determination of someone who knows exactly what kindness cost his parents to give him.
