Appearance
Silvester is a lean, long-limbed male tabaxi with charcoal-gray fur marked by pale silver stripes along his arms, shoulders, and tail. His amber eyes are alert and perpetually amused. He dresses in supple dark leather, a hooded traveling cloak, and soft-soled boots, with a rapier at his hip and a shortbow case across his back. He takes up more physical space than he realizes, often leaning close over tables or draping himself across the nearest chair. Within moments of meeting someone, he will notice and adjust the position of any loose object nearby, especially coins, cutlery, or buckles.
Mannerisms
Silvester leans too close when listening, folds himself into chairs like a lounging cat, and casually relocates small objects while speaking. He checks the position of his rapier's guard whenever he passes through a doorway and rolls a coin across his knuckles whenever someone lies.
Personality
Silvester is curious, irreverent, and socially fearless. He treats every conversation as a game of positioning, testing how close he can stand, how much he can tease, and what people reveal when they are annoyed. Beneath the swagger, he is observant and surprisingly protective of outsiders, especially anyone being bullied by a powerful person.
Ideals
Freedom. No crown, guildmaster, god, or benefactor gets to decide where I go or what I owe. If I must choose between obedience and escape, I choose escape.
Bonds
He still possesses a coded page from the magistrate's ledger, and he intends to expose the people responsible for the conspiracy when he has enough leverage to survive the attempt.
Flaws
Silvester cannot resist proving that a lock, guard, noble, or impossible plan is not as clever as it thinks it is. He treats serious danger like an invitation to show off, and his jokes become more reckless when he is frightened.
Quirks
Background
Silvester grew up among the crowded rooftops, market awnings, and canal bridges of a river city where a quick hand could mean the difference between supper and an empty stomach. His family belonged to a loose tabaxi caravan that traded in curiosities, rumors, and small luxuries, but Silvester preferred the thrill of slipping through locked windows to the slower work of honest commerce. He first learned the criminal trade from a retired burglar who recognized that Silvester's greatest talent was not merely climbing or hiding, but understanding what people expected to see and then giving them something else. By adulthood, Silvester had become a capable thief and occasional courier for the city's criminal networks. A burglary involving a corrupt magistrate went wrong when Silvester discovered that the stolen ledger contained the names of innocent people being framed for crimes committed by the magistrate's allies. He kept the ledger, destroyed the original contract, and disappeared before either side could silence him. Now he travels under the name Silvester, taking jobs that promise danger, novelty, or a chance to embarrass someone who believes wealth makes them untouchable. He claims he wants freedom above all else, though part of him is still deciding whether he is a thief who occasionally does the right thing or a reluctant hero who has not found a better profession.
