- Bardic InspirationLevel 1
You can inspire others through stirring words or music. As a Bonus Action, choose one creature within 60 feet that can hear you. That creature gains one Bardic Inspiration die, a d6. Within the next hour, it can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw it makes. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses when you finish a Long Rest.

Appearance
Melisma Thyme is a slender wood-toned elf with warm brown skin, dark auburn hair worn in a loose braid, and bright hazel eyes that rarely stay still. Her traveling clothes are practical but carefully mended, layered beneath a weathered leather coat. A small silver holy symbol hangs at her throat, its lower edge polished smooth from years of nervous rubbing. Before she speaks, she takes a quiet breath through her nose, pauses as if listening for a note only she can hear, then begins in a low, precise voice. Her fingers are usually stained with ink from her prayer book and calligrapher's supplies.
Mannerisms
She pauses before speaking, inhales softly, and often shapes the first word of a sentence as though testing its pitch. When thinking, she taps two fingers against her holy symbol in a slow rhythm. She writes down unfamiliar names immediately, then pronounces them three different ways to find the version that feels most respectful.
Personality
Melisma is observant, irreverent, and intensely curious. She offers sincere comfort in the same tone she uses for mischievous gossip, which makes it difficult to tell whether she is being profound or merely entertaining herself. She respects devotion more than authority and prefers people who admit uncertainty to priests who pretend to possess every answer.
Ideals
Truth should be singable. If an idea cannot survive being spoken plainly and remembered by ordinary people, it deserves to be questioned.
Bonds
She carries the shrine's unfinished hymnbook and intends to complete its final missing verse, which disappeared with a traveling cantor years ago.
Flaws
She cannot resist correcting a bad hymn, even when doing so would be tactically foolish or socially disastrous. Melisma also mistakes emotional certainty for spiritual insight, and she is prone to abandoning a safe plan the moment a more interesting possibility presents itself.
Quirks
Background
Melisma Thyme was raised in a woodland shrine where hymns were used to mark the seasons, settle disputes, and guide the dead into memory. As an elf, she learned early that mortal worshippers treated every song as urgent, while the shrine's older elven custodians treated a century as a single verse. Melisma became the bridge between them. She copied prayers into illuminated books, learned the names of local saints, and developed a talent for turning sermons into melodies that even the most distracted pilgrim could remember.
