Appearance
Vixik is a tall, broad-shouldered red dragonborn with dark crimson scales, black horns swept backward from his brow, and a chipped left fang. His eyes are amber and watchful. He wears battered chain mail over a charcoal-gray tabard marked with a simple iron sun, and he keeps his holy symbol tied to the guard of his greatsword. Old ritual scars run along his forearms, partially hidden beneath leather bracers.
Mannerisms
Vixik stands perfectly still when listening, with both hands resting on the pommel of his greatsword. He taps one claw against metal whenever he is counting or weighing a decision, and he ends formal statements by touching two fingers to the iron sun at his belt.
Personality
Vixik is deliberate, formal, and intensely observant. He speaks in short, carefully chosen statements and dislikes exaggeration, improvisation, and people who treat promises as suggestions. Beneath his stern exterior is a protective nature. He quietly repairs damaged gear, memorizes the names of the dead, and positions himself between danger and the least armored member of the group.
Ideals
Order. The world is full of suffering because people place desire above duty. A just law, applied consistently and tempered by evidence, is the surest path to peace.
Bonds
The Shrine of the First Flame gave Vixik purpose, and he will defend its people even when its hierarchy is mistaken. He carries the temple’s stolen iron sun symbol and refuses to rest until it is returned to its altar.
Flaws
Vixik treats uncertainty as a personal failure and can become rigid, judgmental, or dangerously obedient when faced with moral ambiguity. He is slow to forgive disobedience, even when disobedience is justified, and secretly fears that without orders or doctrine to guide him he will discover there is nothing beneath his discipline.
Quirks
Background
Vixik was hatched beneath the bell tower of the Shrine of the First Flame, a temple devoted to the lawful powers of creation and judgment. His clutch was considered an ill omen because his scales emerged dark red rather than the bright vermilion favored by the temple’s priests. The priests nevertheless took him in, teaching him scripture, ritual discipline, and the sacred geometry of warding circles. Vixik proved more comfortable carrying the shrine’s ceremonial greatsword than reciting long prayers, but his tutors recognized that his devotion expressed itself through action rather than eloquence. When a mercenary company desecrated several rural shrines, Vixik joined the temple guard to pursue them. He discovered that the attackers were being aided by a corrupt priest who had sold sacred relics to fund a private army. Vixik exposed the conspiracy, but the priest escaped with the shrine’s oldest icon, a small iron sun said to contain a fragment of divine fire. Since then, Vixik has traveled as a soldier-acolyte, enforcing the laws of his faith, protecting the helpless when ordered to do so, and searching for the stolen relic. He believes justice is strongest when it is patient, precise, and backed by a sharpened blade.
