Appearance
Salkjerr is a lean male High Elf with ash-blond hair worn in a practical braid, pale olive skin, and clear gray-green eyes that seem to catch candlelight. His voice begins with a quiet intake of breath before each sentence, as though he is listening for the right words in the silence. His hands are his most noticeable feature: long-fingered, ink-stained, and roughened at the fingertips from years of copying prayers, grinding pigments, and handling spell components. He wears layered blue-gray robes beneath a weathered traveling cloak, with a silver holy symbol at his throat and a polished crystal focus tied to his belt.
Mannerisms
Before speaking, Salkjerr draws a measured breath through his nose and briefly lowers his eyes. When considering a difficult answer, he traces a small circle over his holy symbol with his thumb. He keeps his voice gentle even when angry, which makes his rare sharp words especially memorable.
Personality
Salkjerr is patient, observant, and sincerely kind, but his kindness is active rather than soft. He notices who has been left out, who is hungry, and who is pretending not to be afraid. He prefers careful questions to confident declarations, yet once he decides someone is in danger, he becomes remarkably difficult to dissuade. He has a dry sense of humor that emerges most often during solemn moments.
Ideals
Mercy. Power has value only when it is used to protect someone who cannot protect themselves.
Bonds
The old temple bell that awakened my magic must be understood, and I will not allow anyone to destroy it or misuse what it revealed.
Flaws
I mistake reluctance for moral failure, and I can become quietly judgmental toward people who refuse the help I believe they need.
Quirks
Background
Salkjerr was raised among the candle galleries of a woodland temple where High Elves preserved scripture in three forms, spoken, written, and woven into spellwork. He served as a copyist and junior acolyte, learning the patience of illuminated manuscripts and the discipline of ritual. His sorcery first appeared when a cracked temple bell rang without being touched. The sound rippled through the sanctuary, extinguishing every flame except the one before the altar. The elders called it a blessing, but Salkjerr heard something stranger in the resonance, a presence answering from beyond the veil of ordinary prayer. Rather than suppress the power, the temple taught him to give it structure. He learned that his magic did not come from a book or a patron, but from something alive in his blood, an old current of fey-touched power that surfaced through voice, gesture, and emotion. Now he travels as a compassionate emissary of his faith, offering healing words, protective rites, and practical aid where it is needed. He is also searching for the source of the answering bell, fearing that whatever heard him that night may eventually learn how to call back.
