Appearance
Meyleen is a lithe wood elf with a dancer's balance and a barbarian's coiled physicality. They wear a sultry slave loincloth and a torn, once-decorative top, remnants of the brothel uniform they escaped in. They refuse footwear, preferring to feel every floor and trail beneath their soles. A magically sealed ankle shackle circles their right ankle, trailing a short length of chain that softly clinks with each step. The shackle cannot be removed by ordinary means and remains a grim reminder of unfinished business. Their body jewelry catches the light when they move, and a thigh band holds a personal intimacy device that they kept as both defiance and proof of survival. A tiny box of personal belongings hangs from a cord at their hip. Within a minute of meeting Meyleen, most people notice that their hands never stop moving, flexing, counting exits, testing knots, or silently marking rhythm.
Mannerisms
Meyleen watches hands before faces, especially when meeting strangers. They keep time with the chain at their ankle, tap rhythms against their thigh, and instinctively turn any open space into a potential dance floor. When angry, they go completely still before the rage breaks loose.
Personality
Meyleen is sharp-witted, suspicious, theatrically confident, and fiercely protective of people who lack power. They use flirtation as misdirection rather than invitation, turn humiliation into jokes before anyone else can wield it against them, and become intensely focused when someone is being cornered. They are most comfortable among outcasts, fugitives, performers, and criminals with rules of their own.
Ideals
No one is property. Freedom means the right to choose one's work, one's name, one's companions, and one's own silence. Meyleen would rather live dangerously by their own decisions than safely under someone else's command.
Bonds
The people who escaped with Meyleen are their chosen family. They will risk almost anything to find those who were left behind and destroy the organization that profited from their captivity.
Flaws
Meyleen assumes kindness is a bargain waiting to be collected. When frightened, they provoke people before those people can control the situation. They are also dangerously unwilling to abandon anyone who reminds them of their former life, even when rescue is reckless or impossible.
Quirks
Background
Meyleen was born beneath the boughs of an ancient woodland, where elven dance was a language used to honor the seasons, tell stories, and guide travelers through the dark. Their grace made them valuable to people who measured beauty in coin. As a young adult, they were taken, sold, and forced into service in a luxurious brothel far from their forest home. There, every smile was rehearsed, every dance was work, and every locked door taught them another lesson about chains, guards, ledgers, and the weaknesses of wealthy owners who believed themselves untouchable. Their escape began with a stolen key, a forged account book, and a fire set in the laundry room. Meyleen slipped through the confusion with a few other captives, though the brothel's binding magic sealed an ankle shackle before they could get clear. The chain still follows them, softly clinking like a metronome. On the road, Meyleen discovered that the anger they had swallowed for years could become something physical, hot, and terrible. Their first true rage came when a bounty hunter cornered one of the escapees. Meyleen broke the hunter's weapon, then the hunter's confidence, and finally the hunter's ability to stand. Now Meyleen travels as a fugitive, thief, and unwilling symbol of freedom. They steal from slavers, corrupt officials, and anyone who treats people as property. They are gathering allies, information, and the means to break the shackle permanently. Beneath the bravado is a dancer still searching for a stage where movement is chosen, not demanded.
