Appearance

Malice is a tall, slender Drow woman with obsidian skin, white hair cut to the jaw, and vivid violet eyes that rarely blink. A thin scar crosses her lower lip, a deliberate mark from her final trial beneath House Travra. She wears fitted leather armor beneath layered crimson, plum, and spider-black robes, with silk cords binding concealed blades to her forearms and thighs. Her curved scimitar is etched with a spiderweb pattern, while a silver holy symbol of Lolth hangs at her throat.

Mannerisms

Malice pauses before entering any room and silently counts its exits. She addresses spiders as if they were junior officers, gives orders in a low ceremonial voice, and draws her scimitar only after whispering a brief maternal prayer to Lolth.

Personality

Malice is composed, observant, and intensely formal. She speaks to enemies with the cold courtesy of a courtier and to allies with the exacting tone of a drillmaster. She admires competence wherever she finds it, but admiration quickly turns into a test. Beneath her certainty is a buried fear that Lolth did not truly choose her, and that she has simply mistaken abandonment for revelation.

Ideals

Utility. A life has value only in what it can accomplish for the one who commands it. I will become the perfect instrument, even if perfection leaves nothing of me behind.

Bonds

Lolth is my mother, sovereign, and purpose. I will destroy anyone who claims her worship, symbols, or chosen servants for themselves. I also keep one black silk thread taken from the altar where Aurelia Travra died, because it is the last thing that belonged to the person I was.

Flaws

I cannot accept kindness without searching for the hidden angle. When Lolth seems silent, I become reckless, cruel, and desperate to earn a sign. I also mistake obedience for virtue and will defend a terrible order if I believe it came from above.

Quirks

She leaves a single strand of black thread at every place where she defeats a sworn enemy.
She keeps a tiny spider in a lacquered matchbox and consults it before making difficult decisions.
She deliberately mispronounces surface military terms, claiming the errors are part of her secret school.
She sharpens her scimitar while reciting the names of every priestess who ever underestimated her.

Background

Malice was born Aurelia Travra, the second daughter of House Travra in Menzoberranzan. From her first breath, the house priestesses measured her for robes, lessons, and obedience. She was taught that mercy was weakness, that beauty was a weapon, and that Lolth's favor belonged only to those willing to become useful. Her hands learned ritual before swordplay, but Malice proved strangely gifted with both. She could recite a litany while disarming a sparring partner, and she never forgot the shape of a room or the location of every exit. During a brutal initiation beneath the house compound, Malice was ordered to execute a fellow acolyte who had failed a test of faith. Instead, the cavern filled with spiders, and the altar webbed itself in living silk. Malice understood the message. Lolth had not chosen her to be another priestess. She had chosen a blade. Aurelia Travra died in that cavern, and Malice emerged as something narrower, sharper, and more obedient to the voice she believed was her divine mother. She abandoned House Travra and began forging the Way of the Black Widow, a bastardized surface samurai discipline built on curved blades, deceptive footwork, hidden weapons, poisoned steel, and victory without fairness. She now travels as Lolth's general in miniature, seeking enemies to break, rivals to humble, and proof that she is more useful as a weapon than she ever was as a daughter.
