Appearance
Sheshan is a lean, broad-winged male aarakocra with russet, cream, and smoke-gray feathers. His wings are carefully preened, though the rest of his clothing is visibly patched and sun-faded. He stands slightly forward on the balls of his clawed feet, as if ready to spring into the air, and favors his left side when walking in armor because his chain mail hangs a little loose at the right shoulder. A narrow strip of blue cloth is tied around one wrist, the only possession he keeps immaculate. His dark beak and bright amber eyes give him an alert, almost birdlike intensity.
Mannerisms
Sheshan tilts his head sharply when listening, gives directions with one wing half-open like a map, and taps the heel of his staff three times before making an important decision. When tense, he quietly whistles the same descending phrase.
Personality
Watchful, curious, and openly warm with travelers, Sheshan treats every road as a story waiting to be heard. He is quick to laugh, quicker to offer help, and uncomfortable with long stretches of silence unless he is high above the ground.
Ideals
Freedom. No one should be trapped by borders, tyrants, or fear. The sky belongs to everyone who has the courage to enter it.
Bonds
The mountain pass he defended is now used by travelers who never learn his name. He considers their safe passage his responsibility, and he will risk himself to protect any caravan, refugee, or lost child under his watch.
Flaws
He cannot resist correcting someone's route, even when they are clearly not asking for directions. He also assumes that people who stay indoors too long are hiding something, and he has a habit of abandoning sensible plans the moment he sees someone being bullied.
Quirks
Background
Sheshan was hatched among the high crags where aarakocra watch the valleys below and regard the ground as a place to visit, not a place to belong. His first lessons were in wind reading, cliff paths, and the patient work of carrying messages between distant nests. During one hard season, a caravan of frightened villagers climbed into the mountains seeking shelter from raiders. Sheshan guided them through a pass during a three-day storm, then stayed behind when the raiders followed, using a borrowed spear and a great deal of nerve to delay them until the villagers escaped.
