Appearance
Myrel is a lean, long-limbed tabaxi male with pale cream fur patterned by dark green and russet rosettes. His amber eyes are framed by faint spectacles, and one ear bears a small silver ring etched with protective runes. He wears a weathered blue-gray scholar's robe beneath a fitted leather coat, with a spellbook secured at his hip and a polished wooden wand tucked behind one shoulder.
Mannerisms
Myrel cleans his spectacles whenever he is lying, though he insists the gesture is merely a habit. When concentrating, he taps a claw against his spellbook in groups of three and unconsciously angles his ears toward every nearby sound.
Personality
Myrel is observant, dryly humorous, and unfailingly polite to servants, street vendors, and strangers who are usually ignored. He treats every conversation as a puzzle, but his guarded manner softens quickly when someone is being bullied or exploited. He enjoys beautiful handwriting, quiet rooftops, and the sound of rain on glass.
Ideals
Justice. Laws are tools, not sacred truths. A good person uses them to protect the vulnerable and breaks them when the powerful twist them into weapons.
Bonds
He carries a copied page from the Haligtree archives and will risk anything to return it to the archivist who saved his life.
Flaws
He is convinced that every lock, oath, and law has a hidden weakness, and he cannot resist testing it even when patience would be wiser.
Quirks
Background
Myrel was raised among the garden-cities and hidden roads of the Haligtree, where tabaxi traders, pilgrims, and fugitives exchanged stories beneath luminous branches. His curiosity was sharper than his claws, and he learned early to read locks, ledgers, and people with equal precision. An itinerant wizard recognized his talent for patterns and taught him the fundamentals of arcane writing in exchange for discreet errands. Myrel became a skilled burglar of corrupt officials, stealing evidence, forbidden records, and enchanted objects that had been taken from the innocent. His life changed when a wealthy magistrate hired him to recover a sealed relic from a temple archive. Myrel discovered that the relic was being used to conceal a plan to poison a district whose residents had resisted the magistrate's rule. Rather than complete the theft, he exposed the plot, rescued the archivist, and turned the evidence over to the city watch. The magistrate escaped, several of Myrel's criminal allies were arrested, and Myrel became wanted by both the criminal syndicate and the official who had employed it. Now he travels as an adventuring wizard, using the skills of his former life to protect people who have no power to protect themselves.
