Appearance
A broad-shouldered orc standing just over six feet tall, with slate-gray skin, a broken left tusk, and tightly braided black hair threaded with red cord. Their amber eyes are watchful rather than fierce. Old training scars cross their forearms and collarbone, while a faded unit mark is tattooed beneath the right ear. They favor practical clothing, worn leather, and a red wool sash inherited from a fallen comrade.
Mannerisms
Kogta checks every doorway twice, touches the red sash before entering a fight, and speaks in short sentences when calm. When angry, they become unnervingly polite and address everyone by their full name.
Personality
Kogta is calm, practical, and unexpectedly considerate. They remember who takes their tea sweet, who dislikes loud rooms, and which party member is pretending not to be afraid. They distrust grand speeches but respect anyone who quietly does difficult work. In a crisis, Kogta becomes focused and direct, with no patience for status or ceremony.
Ideals
Protection. A strong person exists to take the blow that would otherwise land on someone weaker. Strength without responsibility is only another kind of cruelty.
Bonds
The mountain village of Qhapa saved my life when my commander abandoned it. I will return someday with enough strength, allies, and supplies to make sure it can never be abandoned again.
Flaws
I treat retreat as betrayal, even when withdrawal would save lives. When someone questions my judgment, I become quiet, stubborn, and twice as reckless.
Quirks
Background
Kogta was raised among an orc caravan that crossed high grasslands, salt flats, and the wind-cut passes between settled lands. Their mother repaired harnesses and their uncle kept the caravan’s small armory. Kogta learned early that strength was useful, but only when it served the people walking behind it. They were never the cleverest scout or the most patient negotiator, yet they could carry an injured traveler for miles and stand between a hungry child and a drawn blade. As a young adult, Kogta joined a border regiment after soldiers protected the caravan from raiders. The regiment trained them to use the great axe, spear, and handaxe, and Kogta became known for charging too early and refusing to retreat alone. During a disastrous campaign, their commander ordered the unit to abandon a village as enemy forces approached. Kogta disobeyed, held a gate with three others, and survived only because the villagers opened a hidden escape route. The regiment branded the act insubordination. Kogta left with their rank stripped, their red sash still tied around their waist, and a new purpose. They now travel wherever ordinary people are being told that their suffering is strategically acceptable.
