Appearance
Sergeant Serik Solano is a broad-shouldered human knight with a dark, carefully trimmed beard and short black hair slicked back from his forehead. He wears polished steel plate over a yellow tabard bearing the colors of the Lorience Kingdom, with a well-maintained shield and a straight-bladed longsword at his hip. His hands are thickly callused from years of sword drills and armor work, but his gauntlets and buckles are always meticulously cleaned. His armor fits him slightly too tightly across the shoulders, a reminder that it was inherited from an older member of his family and repeatedly refitted rather than replaced.
Mannerisms
Serik stands at parade rest whenever he is forced to wait, even in casual settings. He checks the straps and buckles of his armor before difficult conversations, and addresses strangers as if he is quietly assessing whether they would hold a defensive line.
Personality
Serik is disciplined, direct, and protective without being needlessly harsh. He speaks plainly, keeps promises even when they inconvenience him, and instinctively places himself between danger and anyone less prepared to face it. Beneath his formal bearing is a patient man who remembers the names of common soldiers, stable hands, and villagers he has helped.
Ideals
Service. Authority exists to protect people, not to elevate those who possess it. A better Lorience must be built through loyalty, discipline, and the courage to correct its wrongs.
Bonds
The people of Lorience are Serik's true charge, especially the soldiers and civilians who have no noble voice to speak for them. He is fiercely loyal to his family name, but hopes to leave it more honorable than he inherited it.
Flaws
Serik is too willing to trust his own judgment, especially when he believes authority is being used unjustly. He can become rigid, impatient with compromise, and quietly resentful when others receive praise for reforms he fought to make possible.
Quirks
Background
Serik Solano was born into a family whose name had long been spoken alongside the knights of Lorience. His father taught him that a knight's duty was not to display power, but to stand between ordinary people and those who would abuse it. Serik entered military service young, first as a shield bearer and later as a line soldier, where he learned that courage was less about charging first than remaining in place when everyone else wanted to run. His promotion to knight sergeant came after he held a breached gate long enough for civilians to escape, refusing to abandon the position until the last wagon had cleared the road. Now a veteran commander, Serik has become increasingly dissatisfied with the distance between Lorience's noble ideals and the treatment of its common people. He believes the kingdom can be made better through steady service, honest leadership, and the willingness to confront corruption within his own ranks. He still honors his family's knightly traditions, but he measures a person's worth by what they protect, not by their title. Serik travels with the patience of a soldier and the purpose of a reformer, ready to draw steel when necessary, but just as ready to use his authority to prevent bloodshed.
