Appearance
Sahra Sheshet is a medium-height human woman with olive-brown skin, dark hazel eyes, and thick black hair usually braided close to the scalp before being tucked beneath a soft charcoal headscarf. She dresses in well-maintained leather armor beneath a loose sand-colored coat, with a red thread bracelet tied around her left wrist. Within a minute of meeting her, people notice that she stands too close when listening, not from rudeness but from complete attention. When waiting, she balances on the balls of her feet with one heel lifted, as if the floor might move beneath her.
Mannerisms
Sahra leans in when someone speaks, studies hands before faces, and quietly counts exits whenever she enters a room. She smooths the red thread bracelet on her wrist before making a difficult choice. When amused, she exhales a soft breath through her nose instead of laughing immediately.
Personality
Sahra is observant, patient, and disarmingly courteous. She prefers asking a quiet question to making a loud accusation, and she has a talent for making people feel that being understood was their own idea. Beneath that composure is a restless protective instinct. She cannot ignore exploitation, especially when someone powerful treats a poor person's fear as an inconvenience.
Ideals
No one should be powerless simply because they lack money, status, or the right name. Secrets belong in the hands of those who can use them to protect people, not those who hoard them for profit.
Bonds
She keeps a small brass token from the caravan house where her mother worked. Its owner disappeared after Sahra stole the ledger, and she intends to discover whether the disappearance was murder, exile, or betrayal.
Flaws
She assumes every kindness has a hidden price and tests even trustworthy people with small, unnecessary deceptions. When cornered, she becomes more concerned with preserving a secret than with explaining herself.
Quirks
Background
Sahra Sheshet grew up in the crowded lower streets of a trade city where every courtyard had a different accent and every locked door concealed somebody's private desperation. Her mother kept accounts for a caravan house, while her older brother worked as a runner for a small burglary ring. Sahra learned early that information was worth more than coin, and that the difference between a thief and a rescuer was often who had been paid first. She became skilled at slipping through kitchens, counting guards, lifting keys, and listening without making people feel watched. Her first serious crime was stealing a ledger that proved a magistrate had been selling confiscated medicines back to the neighborhoods they came from.
