Appearance
Eska is a slender aasimar woman with warm brown skin, silver-white hair worn in a long braid, and luminous amber eyes. A faint constellation of gold freckles crosses her cheeks. She wears a practical chain shirt beneath blue-gray clerical robes, carries a round wooden shield painted with a rising sun, and keeps her holy symbol wrapped in clean white linen. When her celestial power stirs, pale golden light gathers around her shoulders like the suggestion of wings.
Mannerisms
Eska pauses before answering difficult questions, as if listening to a distant voice. She cleans her holy symbol whenever she is anxious, touches the rim of her shield before entering danger, and speaks to the injured in a calm whisper even during chaotic battles.
Personality
Eska is gentle, observant, and quietly stubborn. She remembers the names of strangers after hearing them once and treats small acts of care as sacred duties. In conversation she is patient and reassuring, but in the presence of cruelty her calm becomes startlingly firm. She prefers practical kindness to grand sermons and would rather mend a broken cart than receive praise for defeating its thieves.
Ideals
Mercy is an action, not a sentiment. The light is most sacred when it is carried into places where hope has already failed.
Bonds
The ruined hilltop shrine where Eska was raised is still being rebuilt. She has sworn to restore it, protect its surviving congregation, and recover the shrine bell stolen during the attack.
Flaws
Eska feels personally responsible for every injury suffered near her, even when no reasonable person could have prevented it. She also distrusts easy miracles and may overextend herself trying to prove that her gifts are earned rather than inherited.
Quirks
Background
Eska was born during a winter aurora that turned the snowfields above her village gold. Her mother insisted the child had been blessed by a patient, watchful power, while the village priest believed Eska was a sign that their small shrine had not been forgotten. She was raised among bells, incense, and handwritten prayers, learning early that faith was not merely a matter of kneeling. It was the daily work of feeding the hungry, tending the sick, and staying beside the frightened when everyone else had gone home. As an acolyte, Eska became the shrine's keeper of records and its most reliable healer. Her celestial heritage first revealed itself when raiders set fire to the sanctuary. Eska stepped into the smoke, summoned a radiance that drove the attackers away, and carried three wounded villagers to safety. The event left her with a conviction that divine gifts are responsibilities, not privileges. Now she travels beyond the shrine to answer prayers that have no nearby priest, seeking signs of the celestial presence she has felt all her life while quietly fearing that one day it will ask more of her than she can give.
