Appearance
A lean tabaxi with tawny fur streaked by darker rosettes, bright amber eyes, and a long expressive tail that flicks whenever they are thinking. Luscinia wears practical sage's travel robes layered over worn leather armor, with a bundle of notes, herb pouches, and ink stains always clinging to their paws. Their claws are neatly kept but unmistakably sharp, and their silver earrings are etched with tiny leaf and moon motifs.
Mannerisms
Luscinia speaks softly until excited, then becomes rapid and precise, punctuating important points with a twitch of the tail. They often tap their claws against wood while thinking, sniff unfamiliar herbs before naming them, and tilt one ear toward distant sounds as if listening for an answer from the earth itself.
Personality
Curious, deliberate, and just a little irreverent, Luscinia treats every conversation like a field study and every field study like a sacred rite. They are warm in private, skeptical in public, and happiest when they are translating one kind of truth into another, whether that means a ruin into a map or a wolf's warning into a useful campfire story.
Ideals
Knowledge must be earned in the wild and shared freely. A truth that cannot survive scrutiny, travel, and argument is not worth revering.
Bonds
They carry a worn field journal inherited from their first mentor, filled with margins of praise, corrections, and unanswered questions. Luscinia will protect that book, and the memory behind it, before almost anything else.
Flaws
Luscinia trusts patterns more than people, and they can become so certain that their reading of a sign is correct that they ignore obvious warnings. They also have a habit of correcting others mid-sentence, even when it is socially disastrous, and they cannot resist chasing a mystery at the worst possible moment.
Quirks
Background
Luscinia was raised in a caravan of itinerant scholars, a traveling library that moved from ruined shrine to river monastery and back again. They learned early that every forgotten grove has a story, every star map has a missing corner, and every beast speaks in signs if you are patient enough to listen. Books were not enough for them, though. The more they studied the natural world, the more they felt its answers slipping past language and settling instead into instinct, dream, and scent. Their turning point came in a long-dead forest where a whole stand of trees had survived a blight by leaning into one another like conspirators. Luscinia spent three nights there, copying notes by moonlight and listening to the wind until it finally felt less like weather and more like instruction. When they returned to civilization, they brought back the certainty that knowledge should not merely be stored, it should be lived. Now they wander as a druid-scholar, tracing lost ecosystems, arguing with arrogant academics, and treating every field of study as a living thing that can grow wild if it is given room.
“The more they studied the natural world, the more they felt its answers slipping past language and settling instead into instinct, dream, and scent.”
