Appearance
A lithe wood elf with a weathered green cloak, close-cropped dark hair braided with copper wire, and bright amber eyes that miss almost nothing. She moves with a practiced, silent grace, and keeps a thin, ivory-handled dagger at one hip and a ring of subtle lockpicks at the other. Her face is young by elven standards, but her expression carries the wary patience of someone who has spent years reading locked doors, guarded faces, and the spaces between footsteps.
Mannerisms
She habitually checks exits the moment she enters a room, speaks softly even when excited, and taps two fingers against her sleeve when she is thinking through a lie. When anxious, she sorts small objects into perfect lines.
Personality
Lethariel is patient, observant, and dryly witty, with a habit of asking one question too many before she trusts anyone. She prefers planning to bravado, but once she chooses a side, she becomes fiercely loyal and surprisingly merciful.
Ideals
Freedom. No one should be owned, trapped, or used as a tool for another's comfort. The strong have duties, and the powerless deserve choices.
Bonds
She keeps a carved wooden token from her childhood enclave, and she will risk herself to protect the last living tree of the grove where she was born. She also owes her life to an old fence named Merrow, who once hid her from assassins and never asked why.
Flaws
She cannot resist a locked door, sealed chest, or whispered secret, even when prudence says to walk away. When threatened, she becomes sarcastic and evasive, often hiding fear behind clever words until it is almost too late.
Quirks
Background
Lethariel Voss was born beneath the boughs of an old forest enclave where every path had a name and every name had a history. She was expected to become a keeper of records, a singer of lineage, or perhaps a patient scout for the elder wardens. Instead, she found herself fascinated by the places where the rules frayed. Hidden doors. Lost caches. Secret meetings between people who feared being seen. The first time she slipped unnoticed into a sealed shrine, she did not steal the relic inside. She only wanted to understand how the lock had been built, and why someone had gone to such trouble to keep the world out. That curiosity eventually led her beyond the woods and into the alleys of a river city where fences were temporary and trust was a commodity. She learned to run messages, lift keys, and disappear from the wrong kind of attention. Her criminal work was never elegant enough to impress the truly ruthless, but she proved useful, precise, and almost unnervingly calm. When one of her jobs exposed a scheme that preyed on the poor and desperate, Lethariel chose betrayal over profit and burned the bridge behind her. Now she travels as a rogue not because she loves lawlessness, but because she has decided that the powerless deserve someone who can slip past locked gates and make the guilty feel watched.
