Features
16 featuresAction
- Extra AttackLevel 5
You can make two attacks instead of one whenever you take the Attack action on your turn.
Bonus action
- Lay on HandsLevel 1
Your healing touch restores a total pool of 25 hit points per Long Rest. As a Bonus Action, you can touch a creature and restore hit points from this pool, or expend 5 points to remove the Poisoned condition instead of restoring hit points.
- Faithful SmiteLevel 5
When you take the Attack action on your turn, you can replace one of your attacks with a use of Divine Smite without expending a Bonus Action, provided you expend a spell slot as normal.
Reaction
- Fighting StyleLevel 2
You gain the Protection Fighting Style. When a creature you can see attacks a target other than you within 5 feet of you, you can use your Reaction to impose Disadvantage on the attack roll, provided you are wielding a Shield.
Always on
- Divine Smite
When You hit with a melee weapon or Unarmed Strike
When you hit a creature with an attack roll, you can expend a spell slot to deal Radiant damage. The target is not moved, but the light of the strike briefly outlines it.
- Divine SenseLevel 1
You can sense the presence of Celestials, Fiends, and Undead within 60 feet, unless they are behind total cover. You know the type of any creature detected, but not its identity. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses after a Long Rest.
- SpellcastingLevel 1
You have learned to channel divine power through prayer and conviction. You can prepare Paladin spells and use Charisma as your spellcasting ability.
- Paladin's SmiteLevel 2
When you hit with a melee weapon or Unarmed Strike, you can expend a spell slot to deal extra Radiant damage. The damage is 2d8 for a 1st-level slot, plus 1d8 for each slot level above 1st, to a maximum of 5d8. The damage increases by 1d8 against a Fiend or Undead.
- Weapon MasteryLevel 2
You can use the mastery properties of the Longsword, Javelin, and Spear. Your weapon mastery options are Sap for the Longsword and Slow for the Javelin and Spear.
- Channel DivinityLevel 3
You can channel divine energy directly. You have the Sacred Weapon and Turn the Unholy options from your Sacred Oath. You can use Channel Divinity once per Short or Long Rest, gaining an additional use at higher levels.
- Sacred Oath: Oath of DevotionLevel 3
You swear the Oath of Devotion. Your oath spells are always prepared and do not count against the number of Paladin spells you can prepare. Your oath spells at this level are Protection from Evil and Good, Shield of Faith, Aid, and Zone of Truth.
- Ability Score ImprovementLevel 4
You gain the Ability Score Improvement feat. Your final ability scores already include all selected increases, so no further increase is applied here.
- ResourcefulHumanYou gain Heroic Inspiration whenever you finish a Long Rest.
- SkillfulHumanYou gain proficiency in one skill of your choice, chosen here as Perception.
- VersatileHumanYou gain an additional Origin feat of your choice, chosen here as Alert.
- Military RankSoldier
You have a military rank or former military standing recognized by soldiers and veterans of your old kingdom. You can usually secure modest shelter, food, and assistance from friendly military organizations, veterans, and common soldiers. Since your exile, this recognition is unreliable among the nobility and may expose you to suspicion in your homeland.

Appearance
A broad-shouldered human man with sun-browned skin, dark brown hair worn close at the sides, and a carefully maintained braided beard. His armor is practical rather than ornamental, repaired many times with mismatched leather and brass rivets. His hands are the first thing people notice, thick-knuckled and heavily callused from years of sword drills, reins, field repairs, and forced marches. He keeps his shield polished but leaves the rest of his equipment plainly worn. A strip of faded blue cloth, taken from his former kingdom's infantry colors, is tied beneath his left vambrace.
Mannerisms
He checks the buckles on his shield whenever he enters an unfamiliar room. Before answering a question about the past, he silently counts three breaths. When angry, he becomes more polite, using formal military address for people he despises.
Personality
Tavriq is disciplined, observant, and unexpectedly gentle with frightened people, animals, and inexperienced soldiers. He dislikes grand speeches and distrusts anyone who claims divine approval too easily. His humor is dry and often arrives at the worst possible moment. He has little interest in being admired, but he is fiercely protective of anyone placed under his care.
Ideals
Justice belongs to the people who suffer, not to the people who inherit power. A law that protects murderers has forfeited the right to obedience.
Bonds
I carry the names of the soldiers murdered at Kharad Pass, and I will not let their families be erased from history.
Flaws
I assume every noble is guilty until proven otherwise, and I sometimes mistake caution for wisdom. When I see officers giving orders from safety, I become openly confrontational, even when patience would serve my cause better.
Quirks
Background
Tavriq Meskhi was born in a border town where every household kept a spear above the door. He entered the royal army young, not from love of the crown, but because soldiers were fed, paid, and permitted to protect their neighbors. Tavriq proved unremarkable in courtly matters and exceptional in the field. He could read a ridgeline at a glance, repair a broken strap in the dark, and keep frightened recruits moving when officers lost their nerve. His unit became his family, bound together by shared marches, bad rations, and the quiet promise that no one would be abandoned.
