Appearance
Mireya is a slender tiefling with warm russet-red skin, small swept-back horns, golden-brown eyes, and thick black curls usually gathered with bright thread. Her long tail is decorated with tiny brass bells and colored ribbons from old stage costumes. She favors a worn crimson doublet over a cream blouse, fitted leather trousers, and polished boots, carrying a honey-colored lute whose body is painted with sunbursts and mountain flowers.
Mannerisms
Mireya tilts her head as though listening for a melody before answering a difficult question. She taps rhythms against her thumb when nervous, makes deliberate eye contact with anyone who seems afraid of her, and smiles brightly just before saying something dangerous.
Personality
Warm, observant, and theatrically confident, Mireya treats every conversation as a performance with a hidden audience. She is quick to comfort outsiders, quicker to notice hypocrisy, and fond of turning tense moments into jokes. Beneath her easy charm is a disciplined listener who remembers names, debts, injuries, and the exact words people use when they are afraid.
Ideals
Kindness is a form of rebellion. The powerful already have enough voices, so talent should be used to amplify the unheard.
Bonds
The traveling company that raised her is her true family. She will risk almost anything to find its scattered members and recover Tambo's missing songbook.
Flaws
Mireya cannot resist humiliating cruel people in public, even when a quieter solution would be safer. She also hides exhaustion behind jokes and will lie about being hurt until she collapses.
Quirks
Background
Mireya was raised among a traveling company of musicians, puppeteers, tumblers, and fire-eaters who crossed market roads from village green to river port. Her tiefling heritage made her an easy target for suspicion, so her troupe taught her to answer fear with grace, laughter, and a song that gave people a reason to look at her face instead of her horns. She learned the lute from an aging performer named Tambo, who believed every audience contained at least one person desperate to hear that the world could still be kind. When a wealthy magistrate tried to claim the troupe's instruments and performers as his private property, Mireya turned an evening performance into a public scandal. Her stories exposed the magistrate's corruption, while her companions smuggled the troupe's children and instruments out of town. The company scattered afterward, and Mireya now travels as both performer and quiet troublemaker, using charm, magic, and carefully chosen truths to protect people who cannot safely speak for themselves. She still hopes to reunite the troupe, though rumors suggest some members have vanished into darker roads.
