Appearance
A lean male High Elf with ash-brown hair braided close to the temples and pale green eyes that brighten faintly when his magic stirs. He wears practical blue-gray traveling robes beneath a weathered leather mantle. The mantle is worn smooth along the left shoulder where he habitually grips it while thinking. A small silver prayer wheel hangs at his throat, its edges polished by years of anxious handling. Before speaking, he pauses, draws a quiet breath through his nose, and clears his throat as if preparing to recite a formal prayer.
Mannerisms
Brannoc pauses before answering difficult questions, inhales softly, and clears his throat as though beginning a litany. He counts under his breath when preparing spells and touches the worn left shoulder of his mantle whenever he feels uncertain.
Personality
Quietly attentive and unfailingly courteous, Brannoc notices small discomforts before people mention them. He is patient with the frightened and awkward around praise. His kindness is practical rather than sentimental, expressed through mended straps, warm tea, careful notes, and standing watch after everyone else has gone to sleep.
Ideals
Compassion. Power is only virtuous when it is used to lessen another person's suffering.
Bonds
The hillside shrine that raised me is threatened by debt, corruption, and dwindling offerings. I will find a way to protect it without compromising its teachings.
Flaws
I instinctively trust institutions that speak with confidence, even when their actions contradict their teachings. When frightened, I become overly formal and hide behind ritual language.
Quirks
Background
Brannoc Eirn was raised in a hillside shrine where the priests taught that divine power was not a possession, but a responsibility placed in mortal hands. He served as a copyist, candle tender, and assistant to the shrine's healers. His own magic appeared during a winter vigil, when a spark leapt from his fingers and set every votive flame alight without burning the surrounding wood. The elders recognized sorcerous power in him, but Brannoc regarded it as another form of prayer, something to be disciplined and offered in service rather than hidden or worshiped.
“He served as a copyist, candle tender, and assistant to the shrine's healers.”
