Appearance
Gorrok is a towering male orc, a full head taller than most hobgoblins, with russet skin darkened almost to the color of dried blood. His body is a latticework of old wounds, dominated by a scar that runs from his left temple across his broken nose and down to the corner of his mouth, pulling his lip into a permanent half-snarl. His deep-set black eyes hold a cold, calculating intelligence. His hair is shorn close, his sharply pointed ears are damaged from battle, and his heavily repaired chain mail is worn beneath a battered dark steel breastplate etched with crude warding runes. A dark fur cloak hangs from his shoulders, fastened by an iron wolf-head clasp. He carries a massive greataxe, a curved longsword, and a worn war hammer.
Mannerisms
Gorrok speaks in a low, measured rumble and rarely repeats himself. He studies every person who enters a room before acknowledging them. When considering a decision, he taps one iron-riveted knuckle against the haft of his greataxe. He never sits with his back to a door, and he cleans blood from his weapons before cleaning blood from himself.
Personality
Gorrok is controlled, observant, and relentlessly pragmatic. He does not seek cruelty for its own sake, but he considers mercy a resource that must be spent carefully. He respects competence wherever he finds it, even in enemies, and he prefers a clean threat, a clear bargain, and a decisive consequence to pointless violence. His rare smiles signal that he has identified either an opportunity or a target.
Ideals
Order. Freedom is merely the privilege of the powerful to impose their will without admitting it. A disciplined hierarchy is more honest, more efficient, and more durable.
Bonds
The encampment he rules is more than a refuge. It is the foundation of the dominion Gorrok intends to build. He will protect it from famine, betrayal, and rival warlords, even if that protection requires executions, forced conscription, or alliances with monsters. He also keeps the battered insignia of his first commander, the only officer who recognized his strategic mind before being betrayed by the same soldiers he trusted.
Flaws
Gorrok cannot tolerate disobedience, especially when it comes from someone he considers weaker or less competent. He mistakes fear for loyalty and often destroys useful relationships by testing them too harshly. Deep down, he fears becoming irrelevant more than he fears death, and he will commit increasingly ruthless acts to prove that he is still necessary.
Quirks
Background
Gorrok was born among an orc war host that measured worth in scars, discipline, and the number of enemies who stopped breathing when ordered. He learned early that rage was common, but control was rare. While other warriors charged at the first sign of blood, Gorrok studied terrain, supply lines, loyalties, and fear. He rose through the ranks not because he was the strongest soldier, though few could match him, but because he understood that an army was a machine. Every soldier had a purpose, every commander had a weakness, and every victory required someone willing to make the necessary choice.
