Appearance
Alaric stands tall and imposing, his half-elf heritage evident only in his slightly pointed ears and graceful posture. His skin is weathered by the sun and scarred by blades. He wears blackened plate armor that has seen better days, lacking the polish typical of a knight. His eyes are a piercing, cold gray, and he keeps his dark hair cropped short for practical reasons.
Mannerisms
He has a habit of tightening his gauntlets whenever he is agitated, and he speaks in a low, gravelly tone that rarely rises in volume even in combat.
Personality
He is a man of few words, preferring to let his blade do the talking. He carries a heavy weight of grief that has calcified into a relentless, icy focus. He is not unkind, but he is uncompromising. He views the world through a lens of justice and debt, believing every crime must be paid for in kind.
Ideals
Retribution. No evil shall go unpunished, and no debt shall go unpaid. The ends justify the means when pursuing a greater justice.
Bonds
My loyalty lies with the innocent people who have no one to protect them from the monsters that hide in high places.
Flaws
I am so consumed by my hunt that I often fail to see the humanity in those who are not my enemies, leading me to be cold and distant.

Background
Born to a human mother and an elven father who disappeared early in his life, Alaric grew up in the bustling city of Westgate. He found purpose in the City Watch, eventually rising to the rank of Captain. He was a man of the people, respected for his fairness and his commitment to the law. However, his life was shattered when a cult of the dragon razed his neighborhood to cover their tracks during an escape. His wife and daughter were lost in the fires, along with many of the men under his command. The authorities called it an unavoidable tragedy, but Alaric knew better. The killers were still out there, hiding in the shadows of the high courts. He realized then that the law could be a cage for the righteous and a shield for the wicked. Abandoning his post and his medals, he knelt in the ashes of his home and swore a blood-oath to hunting every member of that cult. His life became a single, focused arrow aimed at the heart of his enemies. He does not seek redemption, only the satisfaction of seeing the debt settled. Every town he visits is merely a stop on a trail of blood, and every monster he slays is practice for the final encounter.
